  1. I'm not going to sleep now. Because I am laughing too hard. That picture is priceless. This is what I get for looking at the forums in bed on my phone. Paul
  2. Hello, My wife and I are not the ones to go camping or mountin climbing, but we do like to get out especally at the beaches. However, we have been taking our kids outside to beaches and other places within a week of being born. (I have 4 little ones). We would put them in backpack carriers and off we go. My older 3 are old enough to go out caching and have recently re-conneceted with it after my job got in the way. I have started caching again with my older 3 over the past couple of months and have had a great time. I start a 2 week vacation on Fri. and as long as it isn't too hot will try to go out with them to find 1 or 2 a day if possible. Sometimes I will put the baby in the stroller and push her with the other 3 taking turns with my phone and recently aquired GPS unit. Have fun. Don't let anyone tell you that the kid is too young to go out. The fresh air is good for them!!! Paul
  3. 2,813 for me. I live in Spring Valley East of San Diego CA.
  4. Hello and welcome. I have got back into caching after life got in the way, but my wife and I plus our 4 kids love it. Sometimes I will just take out the older 3. They love it. I made the mistake of not looking at the difficultly before we went out. It was too tough for my kids and we had to give up. Now I look for no more then 1.5/1.5. Paul
  5. My wife and have started getting annual passes to Disneyland since we live near San Diego. We are planning a big trip after deployment. We plan on buying the hidden mickey book and trying to spot every one. Paul
  6. Hello all, Thank you for the Welcome...urr Welcome Back. I will check my schedule to see if I can make either of the events. If anything I may just stop by for a quick hello. Yes I am in the Navy. Have been for over 17 years now. Getting close to the finish line unless I pick up E-7 then who knows. If I don't then I will be joining the regular work force again. The kids really want to hide a cache before I go. I may concider it before I go, but lots to do before I leave, and not enough time it seems. Anyway, if I don't make it to any of the events prior to my leaving I will see you all on the boards and when I get back. Paul
  7. Hello all, Thought I would take a sec and introduce myself. My name is Paul and I started caching a few years ago, but due to life/family/job I stopped doing it. Now that my 3 of my kids are older I have gotten them into geo caching. We are using this as a great activity to spend time together prior to my deployment. We have started with the caches that are within walking distance of our house, but have quickly run out. So we are going to start driving around still exploring the Spring Valley area. I am looking forward to meeting some of you at some point if not before I leave maybe when I get back. Happy Caching!! Paul
  8. If we were to have it at Mission Bay I would vote for B or C. Another place my wife and I thought of was Balboa Park. Plenty of places to hide stuff, but I don't know about BBQ facilities. As far as dates go I will not be available on the following--July 3rd(Sat), Aug 8th, or Aug 14th. Otherwise we don't have any major plans this summer. SleeplessinSanDiego
  9. I think that Mission Bay would be great. As long as we don't have 75 or more people it would be great. But what happens if we decided to to this and then more then 75 people show up???? Sleepless
  10. My wife and I have just started caching. Last weekend while doing a multi-cache my wife hopped out of the car to get the cache. Little ones were sleeping in the car so I stayed behind. When she came back we started looking for the GPS to put in the next coordinates. Turns out that my wife didn't just leave it by the cache, she left it in the cache..... If we didn't have another cache to go to then it might have stayed there. Glad to know that there are people out there that would have tried to return them. SleeplessinSandiego
  11. Dan, Thanks for the welcome. We live in the Spring Valley area. I have noticed that there are not that many caches in the Spring Valley area kid friendly or not. We have been driving to Point Loma to seek caches. We lived out there for a couple of years. We don't mind driving around San Diego to get to caches. I can't wait to go to a gathering. I have been looking at the gatherings in California, but all of them are too far away for us because of our kids. Sleeplessinsandiego
  12. Hello all, New to geocaching. Heard about it from my brother in WA state. From there we bought our first GPS and found our first cache while on vacation in April on the Hawaiian Islands Since then we have tried to go every weekend. It is hard with two toddlers but they are good kids. Looking forward to meeting everyone. Sleeplessinsandiego
