  1. All right - you got me hooked with the march calendar wallpaper. Now that it's April, I've lost my way... Hey, I'm stuck at work and need something to look forward to...
  2. While I'm not a fan of micros, I usually go find them eventually if they are close. For the most part, I'm too impatient to sort out the locationless stuff. Otherwise, I'm happy to find anything unless it's obviously on private property. Like many others on here, I don't have a great desire to explain myself to authorities or angry property owners. My favorites are well planned multis.
  3. I prefer to leave well enough alone. This site is well enough for me. I have no desire to look elsewhere.
  4. Owning a Benchmark - Good Idea - I'm going out to place one right now... Seriously, I only use the numbers (or icons) for self-evaluation. I could care less about what anyone else has. However, this topic is reminding me that I do need to add some "owns" to my list and give a little back to the caching community. Now that I have some time and finds under my belt, I have a couple ideas for what I hope are good caches.
  5. Most of the stuff I take is for my 2-year old son: Best: Any Matchbox car Worst: Anything else
  6. Hmmmm... Never thought to count icons before. Excuse me - I need to run out and grab a benchmark right now to boost my totals...
  7. I opened http://rtr.ca/geo with my WAP and it worked great. This would have come in handy many times. It is convenient because you can check the cache page anywhere your phone has reception. Normally, I like to have the printed cache sheet, but there has been a time or two that the sheet has been misplaced and I'm a mile from civilization.
  8. I'm lucky - I can just take my son to a park. He can play while my wife and I look. Sometimes, he's smelly, but my boy provides a good cover.
  9. I'm pretty new here, but I have to say that so far you have maximized the fun factor for my family on our caching treks. All of the caches that we've visited to date have been good hides and pretty fun to find. However, when I see Leprechauns caches (which plague my closest to home search page...) I know that I'm in for a good time and a challenging hunt. We thank you for what you put back into the hobby that you and Little Lep enjoy. Maybe by our 2nd Cacheversary we'll have tracked down all of the Elves... but I doubt it.
  10. When my son was born we called him Gas-man occasionally (mostly on the occasions when he was expelling gas of some sort - most of his waking hours). So, when my wife, son (now 16 months old) and I started caching together, he got to be the inspiration of our team name. Kind of lame, but we like it and are sticking with it. However, when friends come along, I'm not sure that they like being lumped in with us dorks... Anyway, interesting thread.
  11. What's the best way to change the goal of a bug to call it home or send it on another leg of it's mission? Should you put a note on the bug's log? E-mail the latest holder? Ask someone to print a new goal sheet and attach it to the bug? Something else? I don't have a TB yet, but this is something that I have wondered about.
  12. I'm new to geocaching and I love it. I've lurked on the boards for about a month now. Reading these boards as a guest is what really got me going with the whole geocaching experience. I still mostly lurk, but I'll speak up when moved to do so (and when time allows - for some reason they don't want me on the forums at work...). Thanks for all of the helpful information that shows up on these boards.
  13. I've only been doing this for a few weeks, and I had some luck by having my wife help with some of the finds. Also, starting with easy caches kept our frustration level down. However, given our first shot at a cache from The Leprechauns, I can see some DNF's or at least a lot of fatigue in our future.
  14. I had been wondering the same thing. I don't care about adding to my TB totals. I just like to move them along. They are my wife's favorite part of the geocaching experience. We were hoping to grab some from a previously visited TB Hotel in the area before we leave for vacation, and now I know that it is OK to do so.
