    Rewording

it is silly, but some people just don't seem to get it, and sometimes clearer semantics get them over that. personally, I like very direct labels and signs...like the ones in the UK that say "Danger, you could die" instead of "Danger, high voltage, risk of bodily harm"

    Rewording

Yes, I concur as well, this is an excellent idea, especially given the increasing number of logs like you cite in the initial post.
  3. yep, check out what I said about Mtn lions on the other thread. I wholeheartedly agree, if you feel you need a gun, maybe you need to hike with more caution and look up every once in awhile. snakes are a cinch to avoid, mtn lions, it just won't be an issue, unless you have the gun out and are ready to take aim the whole time you are hiking.
  4. parking shmarking. how else do you get fun heated debates on the way to find the cache if it isn't about where in the heck to park???
  5. just to be accurate, I wanted to say that if you get attacked by a large cat, a gun is likely not going to help you. Most people are caught completely unaware of the cat and have Very Little time to react. My husband is a ranger, and he shared a bunch with me that he learned at a seminar, from a puma expert, and most of what you get in the media is just pure bs and misinformation about cat attacks. scary stuff, but interesting. Don't hike alone, that is the Best way to avoid cat attacks. and again, I will say that if you are aware and cautious, you should never come within 3 ft of a snake without knowing it. Watch where you are walking and you shouldn't need a gun to take care of snakes. I don't personally care about the gun issue, just that people are knowledgable about hiking with minimum impact, including to wildlife. think about all the rats that had a party after he shot that snake....HPS anyone?
  6. yeah, this is a bit of an off-topic thread..... except that I wanted to add that if you are aware of your surroundings, you should never have an issue with a snake. The original post says he stepped right over it, that was a mistake in my book.

    New Tb Design

I think it is great, although I agree with Shoobie. Makes me wish I had waited to order my new TB tags recently.
  8. guessed what in 2 min? that it was random numbers? hehehhee. Sorry!
  9. Strangely, it seems to be a Random number doo-hickey, at least that is what this page UselessWord.com says about that link.... http://0x800ccc0d.com/ interesting.
  10. you could even try going one step further and make nice-nice.
  11. It is ok to disagree and still converse, and most people will state this, but carrying it through is often not happening, especially in person. I think it is easier here, but maybe that is just me.
  12. I know my way backwards and forwards around Horton from spending time on a Mock Trial in high school and hanging out there all the time during that. Maybe someone would like to collaborate. I know that I am always thinking funny thoughts when climberX and I go there, and he doesn't know which ramps to take. hehehhee fun thought.
  13. Sacrilege!!!!!! Now, to stay on topic, I am wondering what the current feeling is about Members' Only caches. I am seeing that more and more people are subscribing, at least I think they are (locally I mean). Any thoughts?
  14. oh, gee, ok, solving the Maze was fun, but then it wasn't a cipher
  15. I would definitely buy tickets to a fish slapping dance.... hehehehe.
  16. oh yuck. ick, ugh. that is just----oh, I can't even type anymore.....itchy....yikes. why would a mite-eating-mite bite people? is there a link to an article that gives more details?
  17. Check out this cache, it is a similar type of idea. I can't tell you exactly how it works, as that is part of the fun of figuring it out. PM me if you aren't from San Diego or write the owner, he put a lot of work into this, and did a great job on it. Zis Is KAOS, Ve Don’t Bush-vaak Here! GCKC5B
  18. just keep in mind that not everyone that vents is a not-good-person, none of us is perfect. I was stupid and vented in public, I should have said more of that privately. Sometimes I get a bit too blunt. There are some that never post anything else though, and that is a big let down. For people who feel angry when they read stuff here, try what my husband reminded me to do, Pretend that each person is your mother and be nice to them accordingly. namaste
  19. no, you are not alone. not even close. no panic.
  20. we visited Syracuse, and yes, Dinosaur Bar-B-Que is a must-visit. the food is incredible and the atmosphere is sooo fun. I loved it. best food I had in a long time!
  21. so, Is anyone interested in linguistics puzzles, because I could make a nifty one, but don't want to if there will be 0 interest...
  22. I'm off to Philly in 2 weeks and Chicago in 3. Plan on doing some caching between meetings. I'd be glad to drop off TBs. I'll be at the Feste (traffic forgiving). Tycho Cool, I will probably make it by. That sounds perfect! thanks!
  23. A really easy cache that I really enjoyed (trying to stay on topic, he asked for examples ) was Prince Charming's Ride Oh, and it is a micro too Easy can be a lot of fun. I would like to try going out on a night hunt for some easier caches. that would be more fun than my only other nighttime experience.
  24. I am allowed to give apologies, if you don't have the good graces to accept and be civil, then Don't Respond!!!
