  1. This note was logged on a trackable in a cache we recently found: "02/3/2010 GoGeocaching.com posted a note for xxxx Illinois Visit Log [This is an automated message] A cache containing your trackable item has been archived. The trackable's last known location was the geocache GCXXXX ( (visit link) ). You may be able to determine more about the cache and your trackable item’s status by reading the most recent logs on the cache page. If you cannot determine the current location of your trackable item, you should mark it ‘missing’ on its reference page." I was intrigued by the wording "this is an automated message", which seems to imply that it is "official". Has anyone else run across this? Mrs. Car54
  2. Hello. My name is Mrs. Car54 and I am a cache puritan. Behold, I have found a cache whose opening was frozen shut and though I didst touch said cache, I couldn't open it and sign the log, so I..................... Logged a DNF! However, back when we were noobs, at our very first event, we were told that it was the thing to do to log the temporary event caches by posting multiple "found it" logs on the event. By the time I became a puritan and began to frown on such a practice, I didn't want to mess up our milestone caches. Therefore I am both a cache puritan and a cache hypocrite. Mrs. Car54 Edited because I am also a member of the Spelling Police.
  3. I am sorry to hear about your Mom. Mrs. Car54
  4. I, too, think this sounds very cool and would be happy to lauch any in Indiana if you'd like. Mrs. Car54
  5. Sounds like an excuse someone uses for not picking up after their dog/ horse. Or not picking up after themselves, perhaps?
  6. To the OP - I understand the urge to see if the swag you left was taken. When we were new, I would watch every cache we found just to see if people liked what we were leaving. It always made me happy to see a mention of something we left in a cache brightening someone else's day. While I wouldn't call us jaded or cynical, that first "newbie rush", for lack of better words, has passed. Thanks for bringing the memory back to mind. It's a good reminder to me that when we *do* swap swag, I should include that info in our log, just in case the "dropper" is watching. Enjoy your new hobby! (Edit - typo)
  7. There, fixed. --The Grammar Police Thanks! That was "bothering" me too. Mrs. Car54
  8. Now that's funny! I say give that cacher a free month of premium membership for making people smile. I'm sure I'm not the only one who smiled when I read this. Mrs. Car54
  9. The lure of full hookups proved strong for us - we are in site 129 - easy walking distance of the rest of you!
  10. What a cool idea! The Indiana DNR puts on some events and places some caches - very nice to have the state parks support the hobby!
  11. Ummmm.......not in my experience. Mrs. Car54
  12. Now that's cool! I may have to work that into some of our logs. "The pryf crwydrio was not in the cache." "Dropped off a pryf crwydrio." Mrs. Car54
  13. Good luck. They aren't answering e-mails and they haven't been giving refunds.
  14. That's great! At least you understand the reference behind the name. I'm always confused when someone thinks it's a NASCAR reference and asks us who drives # 54.

    ISQ Finds

Linky? Linky Thank you! Cool - we've met the challenge requirement - now to find time to get down there!
  16. Not being one of the "smart people", I must admit that I used to hound my poor husband to "help" me solve some of the more difficult/obscure puzzles. But we cache as a team and don't log our finds individually anyway, so we're good there. I will say this thread helped me understand something I didn't get before - I could never understand why a terrific puzzle that took quite an effort to solve would lead us to an LP for the final. While I'm not all about the swag or anything, we are part of the "LPC avoidance crowd" and I often felt "tricked" into going after a cache I don't like. (If you like LPC's, that's fine. I'm OK - you're OK - etc....) Mrs. Car54
  17. That was great! I haven't laughed that hard in a long time! Oh yeah, and I want a pony. Mrs. Car54 P.S. This post has been previewed before posting.
  18. Cool! And all along, I've been thinking the problem was my printer. Mrs. Car54
  19. I like them so much I checked your profile to see what general area you are from. Darn! Planning to come to Indiana any time soon? Mrs. Car54
  20. Hi! My name is Mrs. Car54 and I'm a geo-tourist.
  21. Oooo, I like this! There is a large group of Indiana Spirit Quest caches that take more than one bookmark list to include all of them. Plus, sometimes we want to search for all the ISQ's in a particular area - county, zipcode, etc. - and it's a nuisance to check each cache page (which almost always indicates county), and bookmark the daggone thing to get a PQ. If we can't have this, may we have a pony? Mrs. Car54
