  1. Geez, I'm exausted just looking at the route! The Roaster & Ale house is not going to be the final as they are unable to accomodate more than 35 people in their meeting room. They wanted to put you all in a convention center room (major cost for catering, room fee etc...) and would feed you a mass produced meal of only 2 choices. Thanks to the many events that I've had to accompany my husband, I've had more than my fair share of meals from the convention center and I highly suggest somewhere else...(pausing to let that comment sink in). I am currently looking for a better place that will accomodate such a large crowd (preferably one that serves libations). I know that the Wet Siders often invade Red Robin, but I'm afraid if that many of you show up to our humble little restaurant, it would make the front page of our 15 page newspaper, but I will inquire about seating such a large number in the BAR area. Or, how does Mexican sound? -R-
  2. Well, the weather couldn't have been better...got a bit of a sun burn which I will happily flaunt at work. What a great place, one I would love to go to ALONE or with other cachers who will not b*tch and moan every time you get a "certain glint" in your eye. Out of 45 I pulled up, I only managed a pitiful 12!! I did get firsties on the Coho & the Black Cat though and was able to launch my new sig item so it wasn't a complete downer. All in all, what a wonderful place. One that demands a return visit whether to cache, site see or just to enjoy the extremely nice people we met. I ought to close the thread since I've returned, but will leave it open for a day or two. -R-
  3. Geez, you guys are impatient. I was gone for the long weekend and had WAY too much to do before we left. Who knew in a family of 5 I had to pack and plan for 4 and then plan for the house/animals too? The geo-ignorant spouse...? naw, he grabs the car keys and says, are you ready? I will submit it tonight barring any keyboard interference from neglected cats/dog/kids/geo-ignorant spouse or washing machines. Besides, Nav and 'Toodles were out of town over the weekend too so this just gives them and equal edge!
  4. Well I've printed about a trees worth of cache pages (I've yet to figure out how to d/l them directly to my GPS or do paperless...a topic perhaps at a WSGA meeting?). If all goes according to plan, I'll get my 500 over there, but I'll be with the geo-ignorant family members so it's doubtful. Thanks to all who've made suggestions. Robinego
  5. Um...real hot. But it's a "DRY" heat... Seriously, coming from the beaches of SoCal where I'm used to ocean breezes and think "hot" is anything above 80, I can handle the heat here without a problem. Irish, Russian, Mexican, Swedish...you name it. Robinego (aka: the rolling bartender) Have booze, will travel.
  6. Sorry, don't drink coffee. But maybe you could get some hot chocolate. Who says you have to drink it? You only have to make it for him! Of course, you may need some lessons, I'm sure Nolenator will teach you. I can make my own coffee, but I make a meaner martini!
  7. Congratulations. Enjoy that sweet girl now...before she grows up, gets an attitude and asks for the car keys...hey wanna trade? Mine is potty trained...and has insurance! The commute will be hell, but I'm up for babysitting! I even change diapers. (give me a few hours to cache my way over...)
  8. I've got a bug stuck Hope TB in this cache I Spy. What am I?. Would someone from this area be willing to rescue it and get it moving again. I've posted a note to the North Texas Geocachers forum and am awaiting a reply from there, but I'd rather cover all my bases. Thanks, Robinego
  9. Uh yeah. Heard where the location was and thought....Silver platter....cache... here ya go Nav. That's ok, you've been a little dry lately for the FTF's since you've been gone and hiding a lion share of the caches. Now Xy on the other hand needs to get a desk-bound job! I'm really beginning to wonder if he works at all. I've called his cell phone and he's at my location less than 10 minutes? What gives with that? I want his "job". I rehid my February (had to tweak it's location) and need to submit it tonight. It would serve Xy right if I hid it at the top of some mountain where only Hummers can go...
  10. Thank God! I was afraid you had spent all this time and energy into having these coins made and there was a typo. You would have been so upset.
  11. TL, let us locals know if you need anything. We'll be happy to help out. (I'm speaking for all of them because I love to delegate!!)
  12. Just curious, I have seen the saying, "Not all those who wander are lost". But not, "Not all those who wonder are lost". The coin looks great! Congrats.
  13. Hmmm...let's see, the Cache-cadians are trying to outdo each other by placing at least 43,892 caches a month (ok, a little exageration but the once-a-month club is becoming like the 5-a-month club!) so there ought to be some new ones for you all to hunt. I hear you all like micros in the forest....
  14. Oh, I'm all over that FTF like white on rice! Thanks! -R-
  15. Well that's a duh on my part, I guess I should have put that part in huh? You couldn't read my mind? Will be leaving early the morning of Friday the 18th and returning evening on the 21st (4 day weekend). We will have the car so we can see some sights out a ways, but I wouldn't want to drive "just" for a cache since I have the impatient familial units. Now if you can suggest a sight that has a cache nearby... Appreciate any help. -R-
  16. I'm headed over into Victoria for the weekend with the family and the current exchange student. Would love some ideas for caches in the city as well as sights that are "must sees". My family members are "geo-ignorant-by-choice" (a cross I must bear) so ease is an issue since thier patience only goes so far. But, I would rather have too many listed than to learn I skipped over some that were "just around the corner". Oh, we are taking the ferry into/out of Port Townsend so if there are a few right in the vacinity that would be totally awesome. Thanks, Robin
  17. It's right here..... Scrambled, and you really don't need a boat...
  18. Hmmm...that means you just did a drop too.... and in the words of Xy.....Whereizit? Whereizit?, Whereizit? As far as the caches up the 97, I was on a bus with 42 16,17 and 18 yr olds so just stopping was not an option. (of course, I would have paid dearly to get off a few times ) I did a search and came up with very few. Of course, it's a bit more difficult since the maps do not show the detail once you look into Canada. Canada becomes a big grey blob . If there are better ways to search for caches in Canada, let me know and Moun10bike's new routes and polygons don't include inland BC. I'll be up there enough to make good use of any search techniques you can dispense.
  19. My February has been submitted and it's nothing like I've done before...
  20. well, back from an absolutely gorgeous weekend in Revelstoke. There was snow. White, fluffy, cold and slippery...loved it! What wasn't up there were caches. Hardly any all the way up the 97. Very disappointing. Didn't bring my GPS because of the lack of caches. But saw sooo many great places to hide caches and wondered if there were any inland BC cachers? I'm heading back up to Naramata and Penticton in the spring/fall/winter over the next few years so I'll manage a few hides over the course of time. Hopefully, more hides will come out before then.
  21. Thank you for rethinking your post and deleting the list. Instead of "spurring on" the FTF competition, it had quite the opposite effect for me. In fact, I was rather taken aback when I saw it because I felt like my nose was being rubbed and it seemed to me you were saying "neener neener neener, look how much better I am". I know there is a certain amount of pride involved this sport, and I am impressed by the number of FTF's you have. Someday, I may be close. Heck, someday I may have as many as Patudles does... BTW, I'm in B.C. skiing for the weekend so you all have 3 days to skunk me all you want! Edited to add awesomly great news about my awesome weekend ahead...
  22. Please put me in for 5 Thanks
  23. ??? Wait a minute, I'm cornfused. The cache that I was FTF on today was planted in November, so theoretically that one doesn't count because it's not a once a month cache and was placed a while ago? FTF only matters during the month the caches were placed? The caches may have been placed the last day of January, but they didn't pop up until the 1st and were found within hours...on the 1st. I was simply going by a calender month. Help me out here...it's a clear as mud. -R-
