  1. Gene, I've been waiting for someone else to address this, but I'll start the ball rolling. You are not fully to blame here. We "older" players who should have known better really ought to take some ownership here and should have said something earlier. I'm sure most of us "let it slide" because you offered something we hadn't seen before and we were in awe of your woodworking expertise and eye for creativity. I know that I didn't say anything for fear of hurting your feelings and receiving the wrath from other players for being responsible for the archival of some truly unique hides. That said, even the "newbies" should have said something as well as many of them have placed caches as well and should have read the guidelines. So, in essence, everyone who has found your caches is also to blame. Please accept my apology for letting you down and not upholding the integrity of the caching community. -R-
  2. Ha! I read that quickly and somehow inserted the word SUCH to read: "you receive a custom HOTM signature item SUCH as a Charter Member". Makes ya think doesn't it? Robin Speaking of which, I'll be targeting the dry side this year providing the Jeep doesn't break down and the water line doesn't perforate on me. (knocking on veneer to keep the evils at bay) Would be very nice to see you and I hope to get out and play in the desert before the snakes decide to awaken. -R-

  4. I know of a couple of people who can be a lifeline too... (Patudles...g-people...Navigatorz)
  5. What an AWESOME cache to have for a milestone. So glad we could do it before the gondola wasclosed for the season....It was cold, windy and GORGEOUS!!!! CONGRATS my friend!!
  6. WOW!! Welcome, young lady, and congrats to her parents and grandparents! (Trying to picture Robinego as a grandma.... ) Picture, we want pictures! Well...I've been a little busy...Geocaching has a new Travel Bug... Ella Nicole 11/11/08 @23:42. After 21 hours of labor!
  7. Hmm... Very cool, especially since it's not going to last forever (thinking of the famous arch in Arches Nat'l Park that recently collapsed). I'm currently about 1.5 hours SE from this locale and tempted to ask the hubby to make a detour home... but alas, no time to to do more than the occasional drive-bys and only if I beg and promise "favors" (like actually making dinner, get your mind out of the gutter Allanon) ... Hey, hey, hey...Why am I being singled out... I like the GIS, I just feel sorry for him... <thwap>
  8. Abby?...7am? (earlier actually)... That was pretty much my reaction, too. I didn't want to be a brat (or more than I usually am..), but thought the same thing. Obviously Allanon had no such qualms... We only tease the ones we love. Have a great time! -R-
  9. Who's that skinny guy in the pictures? Dang Greg, pretty soon none of us are going to recognize you! You look fantastic and bet you feel just as good as you look, if not better! Congrats my friend, you are giving the rest of us motivation!!!

  11. You know, they do have medication for that....
  12. Sorry to say, I am only free the last weekend so I will have to step away from this month's hike. If you all do go on the 2nd weekend, take a few seconds and think of TroubleJV WALKING 60 miles...
  13. Congrats to a new cacher JohnTubbsMB who reached 500 in less than 4 months!! Awesome job, and wonderful to meet you!
  14. shoot shoot shoot... I had planned on being on this one, especially since there are so many new hides up there, but alas, my Bolivian arrives in Seattle that day. Any other Cache-cadian (or Wet-sider for that matter) who is not able to do this "HOTM-mini cache machine", let me know and we'll do it together later on in the year. -R-
  15. The nearby businesses are Wedge Mountain Inn (Motel) and Big Y Cafe both near the intersection of Hiway 2 and Hiway 97. We would have to get permission to park vehicles in their parking lots. So far it appears there are two individuals (Hydnsek and AndrewRJ) coming over from the west side Saturday morning in one vehicle (LandRover states that he will already be in Wenatchee and will meet the carpoolers there). Are Hydnsek and AndrewRJ able to meet us at the trailhead? You would need a high clearance vehicle. If so, here is a suggestion that might work: East meets West at the Wedge Mountain trailhead? Those coming from the Wenatchee-Cashmere side meet at the Easy Street Park-n-Ride in Wenatchee. We can then carpool to the Wedge Mountain trailhead via Hiway 97 and Mountain Home Road. Those driving from the west side could drive up Mountain Home Road from the Leavenworth end. There are caches along the way they may want to find after the hike such as 21 Candles and Charred Log, both on the Mountain Home Road, and also Boundary Butte and Boundary Butte The Top, both just a short drive off the Mountain Home road. If the west siders are not bringing a high clearance rig and need rides, then we'll have to meet them at the Park-n-Ride in Leavenworth (a few miles further to drive for the eastsiders), or I can call the Big Y cafe and ask if we can park vehicles there for a few hours on Saturday. So westsiders, is meeting at the trailhead a possibility? Or do you need to ride up with someone with higher clearance vehicle? K-DDID HERE. I THINK I CAN CLEAR MY WAY FOR THIS ONE. SEE YOU AT EASY STREET. The Geo-ignorant spouse is a go and he wants to bring the idiot dog. Told him as hot as it's gonna be, he has to carry the water for the beast. We'll meet you all at the P-n-R on Easy St. Unfortunately we'll be in the son's truck and it only seats 2 (comfortably). The G-I.S. still won't let me "break-in" my Sequoia off roads...
  16. That is his name! Wedgie Goat. So it is time to get conditioned for our next hike: JULY HIKE OF THE MONTH The plan is to hike up Wedge MT to the cache that is up there, aptly named Wedgie Mt. DATE: JULY 19 We need to get a head count and figure out when we are going to start and carpooling since there is limited parking. PLEASE POST HERE IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO JOIN THE HIKE! Overachiever... I am assuming the hike will begin at some ungodly hour like 0800 allowing me 4 hours of beauty rest... count me in. I may even bring the geo-ignorant spouse and idiot-mutt (NOT the same person )
  17. June 28, no bueno para me. I have a Czech kid I'm shipping home that day...been waiting a year to say the Czech is in the mail... July 19, Wedge Mtn! I can fit only take 1 other person up with me since I'll be taking the Royal PIA's (aka: 17 yr old son) truck. The Geo-ignorant spouse still won't let me take the Sequoia off road! grrrr
  18. Would anyone be interested in doing Wedge Mt. for HIke of the MOnth in July? That way we could get Lloyd's last lunchbox and also the new Wedge Mt. cache. Mapmaker? Will you post a map to give folks food for thought? That looks like a timeframe I could commit too although I don't want to interfere with those wanting to do Colchuck.... Hmmm...I had no idea that Wedge Mountain was as beauterific as that. I have to say, whichever one is chosen would be great. What I gather as the pros and cons: Wedge Mtn:long twisty dirt road driving but the hike being shorter. Colchuck: shorter easier drive but longer steeper hike. I'm easy but in better shape for Wedge Mtn...
  19. We will be providing the main course, buns, utensils, plates, napkins, condiments. Everyone else should plan on bringing a side dish, fruit, beverages (& libations for the cook staff...), dessert. Life is too short and I'm not going to stress out on having too many brownies (as if that could be a problem !) Don't forget to bring a towel, camera, plastic baggies for the GPS or camera if you are determined to take them on the boats, warmer clothes to change into for the evening since the wind may kick up. Robin
  20. Well, if you get over to the Wet Side, let me know. I'm a volunteer for the Humane Society, and we have many wonderful dogs who'd love to be your family's new best friend. On topic: If you can't find home for all the puppies, please keep the Humane Society in mind as a surrender option. (A better option than the city/county kennels.) My best friend (AKA; You-Idiot-Dog) came from our local shelter. I cannot even imagine, nor do I want to, coming home without him here to greet me. He drives me nuts, but so does my family, and most days he's happier to see me than they are. Ambrosia: a good friend of mine has a dane (Zeus) and I am head over heels about him (don't tell the Idiot). Great dog, lots of personality and doesn't know he's huge. PP: I hear ya sister. Every one of my animals has come from a shelter or some rescue and everyone one of them has been altered. It only takes one visit to see these pathetic animals in those cages to make up your mind that it's for the best to have them fiixed. If only I could convince the Geo-Ignorant-Spouse to let me have acreage so I could have a bazillion (I love that number) dogs..
  21. How about Colchuck Lake? <waving her hands franticly> COLCHUCK!!!! Been on my to-do list for like forever. (I even promise to be in bed the night before/that morning by 0200!) But hey, wherever you guys want...I'm good (colchuck colchuck colchuck)
  22. Unfortunately June 1st was the only weekend day in June that I was free so I sadly submit my regrets . Do we have a tentative July date so I can INK a hike in before that month fills up? (chanting 19, 19, 19, 19... )
  23. Congrats to both of you. When life slows down for me, I plan on joining in on some of the fun! Didja get it at the same cache together and if so, which one?
  24. I'm in for a June 1st hike!
