  1. Thanks for the answers everyone. I'll remember the info when it comes to logging. I just like to enter all my info after I find/Did not find the cache while it's fresh in my mind. I was previously using an old palm pilot device for my paperless caching, but was hoping there was a less time consuming way then having to enter it all back in again when I got home. Glad to hear that there is.
  2. I'm in the market to buy a new gps unit, and my question relates to using a device like the Montana or Oregon. If after logging the find on the unit as found, can I upload the files at the end of the day to geocaching.com, or do I have to go to the site and manually enter each log? Thanks in advance for your help!
  3. I've passed up travel bugs because at first I wasn't sure what they were. Now I pass them up because when I come across them in the field I don't know what their goal is. I've read more stuff on this topic (this thread included) that has explained things better for me. I've started to "watch" a few travel bugs in my area that have goals to get across country to California. I figured when I go to California in a couple of months I can then go to wherever the travel bugs are and pick them up and take them with me. Is that an acceptable way to move travel bugs?
  4. Definitely start with easier ones at first. My family just started getting into geocaching at the beginning of March and found it difficult at first. The more you find, the more you realize the different ways to hide caches which make finding the next one easier. We are more aware of our surroundings when we are looking. Like others have said, look for things that might seem out of place or clues that others have been there. GPS definitely helps a lot. We have had some that we couldn't find and gave up searching. Then, maybe a half hour or hour later we think of something that we saw at the site and go back and look. Sure enough will find it the second time. Don't give up and have fun with it.
