  1. Did my first 3 caches today. Rougham Park, Norman Tower and King's Cache. Was really good fun. Thanks to all for the encouragement!
  2. Thank you! We like the idea of the history @ peace cache. Will also try the Rougham Park (GCXT6N) as it is quite close. Hope it's sunny next weekend!
  3. Hello! After lots of advice from the forum yesterday, I ordered my Garmin Legend HCx. Now I can't wait for it to arrive. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a cache in my area to begin with. One that isn't too difficult, so that I can get used to using the GPS. I live in Bury St Edmunds. Thanks! Jemma xxx
  4. I'll keep hoping. In the meantime, I'm trying to pick up the courage to buy my first GPS!
  5. Welcome to the UK side! Where are you? Otherwise you'll end up travelling a long way to go caching with someone... (edit to add: County or nearest town will do) D'oh! This doesn't bode well! I'm in Suffolk. Bury St Edmunds to be precise.
  6. Hi I'm Jemma. I'm new to Geocaching - brand new in fact - I haven't been out yet. I'm just considering buying a GPS (Legend HCx - comments?) and hoping to get out around easter time. Anyone in the area want to adopt me for an afternoon? I could do with a crash course in using a GPS! Thank you! Jemma xxx
  7. Thank you!! That's so cool! I will go there now. I am totally up for being adopted if there is someone in the area. See you over on the UK page! Jem xxx
  8. That's reassuring! Everyone seems so good at it. I'm going to start small, by looking for some nearby my house. Then work my way up to more complex ones. I'm really excited about setting my own geocache up too. I was surprised that the people in the shop hadn't heard of geocaching. Perhaps it is not so well known in the UK?
  9. Thank you! I went to a camping shop today and they recommended the 60. But they didn't seem to know what geocaching is , so I wanted to check with someone in the forum. Thanks! I think I will go with the Legend, unless anyone would seriously advise against it? Thanks again! Jem xxx
  10. I have tried to read the other links for advice about which GPS unit to buy. I've never used a GPS before and I don't understand all of the language that is attached to them in the other threads, especially the acronyms. I have no idea what functions I need, because I've never been Geocaching before. My students told me about it and it sounds like a lot of fun. So here are my questions 1. Can I be a successful Geoacacher with a lower-end (cheaper!) GPS unit? 2. Would people recommend any of the following? a. etrex Legend Hcx b. etrex venture HC c. Garmin GPS 60 Please speak slowly for the English girl! Jemma xxx
