no, considera che i GPS civili hanno un errore standard sui 4-5 metri, quell'errore che ti segnala GPS Averaging è solo "stimato", aggiungici anche l'errore di chi poi andrà a leggere le tue coordinate per cercare il cache e capisci perchè 1 metro è impossibile.

io uso "GPS Averaging" gratis e veloce ti fa una media delle decine o centinaia di misurazioni che gli dici di fare di un punto.
quando devi riportare le coordinate su geocaching.com, se usi il formato "standard" in gradi e minuti, (44°11.111') puoi tranquillamente fermarti alla terza cifra decimale, tutto il resto sarebbe nell'ordine dei centimetri e va ben oltre la precisione del GPS.

I hope you'll like Italy and the few cities you'll be visiting!
Your iPhone GC App should work properly, of course you'll need to save all the geocache for offline usage while you have an internet connection, I'm sure you know, internet roaming could be pricey, and Italy doesn't have many free wifi hotspots as other countries.
As for the must-do cache, I can't suggest anything particular, because I've never went geocaching in those cities, so given the little time you'll have, I'd say give a look for the caches with the most favorite points, maybe somebody else can suggest some particular ones.

ogni cache ha un proprietario, lo trovi in alto nel listing del geocache, se vuoi puoi cliccare sul suo nome e inviargli un messaggio direttamente tramite il sito di geocaching, spiegandogli che hai trovato il cache in quelle condizioni, in teoria è sua responsabilità mantenere il cache e quindi eventualmente andare a sostituirlo, puoi comunque offrirti per farlo al posto suo, ma ti consiglio sempre di aspettare la sua autorizzazione.
In aggiunta, dovresti postare un log di tipo "needs maintenance" per quel cache, in questo modo il proprietario riceverà una mail che lo avvisa che il suo cache necessita di manutenzione e verrà anche inserita un'iconcina di avvertimento nel listing del cache, per avvertire eventuali futuri geocacher che cercheranno quel cache.

è a tua totale discrezione, se vuoi puoi prenderlo via con te e rimpiazzarlo con uno nuovo ogni volta che fai manutenzione ad un tuo cache, questo è quello che faccio io, ma piu che altro per motivi di spazio, nei micro-cache è difficile che ci sia spazio per più di un logbook e una volta terminato un rotolino, bisogna togliere quello vecchio e metterne uno nuovo.
Poi considera che se vuoi, puoi fare un controllo per verificare che chi ha loggato il tuo cache come trovato sul sito Geocaching.com, abbia effettivamente firmato anche il logbook, e in caso non lo abbia fatto, puoi addirittura eliminare il suo log sul sito, firmare il logbook infatti, è una delle poche regole irremovibili del geocaching, poi rimane comunque a tua discrezione se farlo o meno.
Se ti puo essere utile come idea, a volte quando elimino un log pieno, gli faccio una foto o una scansione e la allego in una nota che posto sul listing del cache, così rimane come ricordo.

FTF=First To Find, ovvero la prima persona che trova il cache dopo la pubblicazione.
Alcuni geocacher vogliono premiare il primo che trova un loro cache lasciando dentro appunto, un certificato oppure un TB (TravelBug) come regalo e incentivo a cercare il cache.

Purtroppo le parti non tradotte sono "normali", nel senso che Groundspeak per ora ha deciso di far tradurre solo le pagine più importanti del sito, nonappena decideranno di far tradurre anche le altre noi provvederemo alla traduzione.
Se invece trovi delle incoerenze nelle parti tradotte in italiano o dei termini che ti sembrano sbagliate, segnalaceli pure!

dopo essermi iscritto ed aver dato la mia disponibilità ad essere contattato ho provato ad inserire il GC di un mio cache e non sono apparso tra le persone disponibili ad essere contattate, inserendo invece il GC di un cache non mio ma che ho trovato, le mie informazioni appaiono correttamente.
Per caso l'owner del cache non viene considerato tra le persone da contattare? In questo caso sarebbe un peccato...

forse ti stai confondendo, le azioni possibili sono "GRAB" o "DISCOVER", mentre "grab" e "retrieve" vogliono dire la stessa cosa, cioè che hai asportato il trackable dal geocache, per metterlo altrove, "DISCOVER" vuol dire che hai semplicemente scoperto il trackable all'interno del geocache e ti sei segnato il codice, ma lo hai lasciato li dov'è, questo semplicemente per aggiungerlo alla lista dei trackable che hai "scoperto".
Speriamo a breve di terminare la traduzione del sito, così da eliminare questi dubbi definitivamente

in caso positivo, la procedura corretta è quella di mandare un messaggio all'owner del geocache, in questo caso janko42 e raccontargli l'accaduto, se ritieni opportuno offrendoti di fare manutenzione sul suo cache e metterti d'accordo con lui su come agire. Spostare un cache in una posizione "migliore" senza dire nulla all'owner prima, con tutta la buona volontà non è una cosa buona da fare, in generale è l'owner che fa manutenzione sul suo cache, anche perchè se decidi di spostarlo, dovresti prendere anche le coordinate nella nuova posizione per aggiornare il listing, e questo lo può fare solo l'owner.
Contattalo e mettiti d'accordo con lui, hai fatto benissimo a raccogliere i resti e benvenuto nel mondo del geocaching se deciderai di proseguire questo fantastico gioco!

In Camogli there is a square dedicated to my Great-Grandfather Andrea Repetto called Largo Tristan Da Cunha. I would like to place a cache nearby, can you tell me how you go about putting a cache in a village in another country.
I will be in Camogli from 7th Sept to 20th Sept. Any advice will be welcome. I am living in the UK and my Italian is not very good, but getting better

the suggestion is always the same, you need a "maintenance plan", so you should try contacting geocachers who own caches close to the place where you want to place yours and ask them if they are willing to maintain your cache after you place it, then when you publish your cache, write this plan so that the reviewer will see it and allow your listing.

The cache at the top of Vesuvius - Volvano Cache Vesuvio (GC1VZWX) is in an area which has been posted just this year with signs saying do not enter without permission. When I was there, I did not go to the cache because of this. I have noticed that several people said they ignored the signsvand found it. However, the geocaching rules for placing a cache clearly say ' Geocachers must not be required to cross any land with "No Trespassing" or similar signs.'. When this cache was placed, the signs were not there. (I was there in 2010, and no signs were around).
I have sent an email to the owner of this cache, as well as a 'Needs Maintenance', but have received no reply, and I can see from the logs that the cache has not been moved. I think that it should be temporarily disabled until it is moved to a place which meets the geocache requirements, but I don't know who to contact. Any suggestions?
try reporting that directly to the reviewer who published the geocache (kazuma), it seems the cache owner is not from Italy so I guess he won't be able to perform any maintenance, but before doing that, and probably causing the archival of the cache, are you sure there isn't another way to get to the cache? if there isn't and geocacher are forced to walk outside the track and this has been forbidden, then the cache definitely needs to be moved and if the owner doesn't respond, archived and physically removed.

I am from Portugal and I am planning a trip to Italy.
Since I have never been to Italy, I'd like you to help me in this.
I'd like to go on the 3rd September and return on the 10th.
We were thinking about spending 3 nights in Rome, 2 in Florence and 2 in Venice.
Is this enough to see the most interesting places in these cities?
how far (minutes and accessibility) is this hotel (http://hotelauroragarden.net/map.php) from the center of Rome?
we are thinking about going from rome to florence and florence to venice by train... can anyone please direct me to the italy train service? I have found one (http://www.trenitalia.com/) but I am not sure if this is the most appropriate.

the nights you wrote are "just enough" to visit the most important places in those cities, that means you'll have to hurry from a place to another and you won't have much time to rest but if you only got 1 week that's the right way of splitting the days/nights in those 3 cities, however you won't have much time to geocache
I can't speak for the hotel in Rome because I'm from Bologna and I don't know how easy is to reach Rome's center from there.
The website www.trenitalia.com is the right and official one and moving by train is definitely the right choice but keep in mind that trenitalia's trains are often (if not always) delaied so keep that in mind if you need to catch a flight or a coincidence.

come nota aggiuntiva, senza sapere le coordinate è un po' piu' complicato scoprire quale geocache hai trovato (sarebbe comunque buona norma scrivere il codice del geocache dentro la scatolina stessa, io lo faccio sempre), se hai un'idea più o meno chiara di dove ti trovavi nel momento della scoperta puoi utilizzare la mappa geocaching di google maps: http://www.geocaching.com/map/default.aspx cerca il posto dove eri più o meno e vedi quale scatolina c'è li vicina, il fatto che sul foglio di carta non c'era nessun nome vuol dire che molto probabilmente nessuno aveva ancora trovato quello scatolino (wow sei fortunatissimo...), ma potrebbe anche voler dire che è stato rimpiazzato da poco perchè magari lo scatolino era scomparso oppure il fogliettino era pieno.
Facci sapere se hai altri dubbi, saremo felici di rispondere e benvenuto nel geocaching!
