  2. I am presently using the Garmin Oregon 400T I find this unit is everything I expected and more. I have just one concern, on my unit when it is very cold outside I must take off my gloves in order for the touch screen to function properly. I am wondering if this is an issue on all touchscreens or just mine.
  3. Why do we"my nearsighted brother and I", do it. First and foremost it brings us closer together. Second the thrill of the hunt, something primal in mankind that a lot of us do not want to admit to. Third the exercise, I've done things geocaching that I never thought I was capable of. Fourth learning about the land we call America I've learned a lot of history while caching, not the big events we all know of,but the little things that are gone now and will never return. I've been to a jail in my state that was erected in 1897 and used into the 1980s. Finally its just plain FUN !!
  4. Good hide, had a great time finding the first two in the series. But listen a quick piece of advice for those geocachers out there. Follow instructions in the cache description. My nearsighted brother and didn't and I paid the price. To get to the third cache we had to cross a small culvert filled with running water. Someone had constructed a small bridge out of old pieces of wooden skids that spans the the culvert. The foot bridge was old and ricketty and so am I. Also I am a wee bit heavier than the weight limit on the bridge. So you can guess what happened, that's right the old bridge caved in just when I got to the middle. as I began to fall my life flashed before my eyes. Actually it really didn't "flash" the water was a long way down so my life went by in kind of slow motion. I hit the water with a resounding thud and sank quickly to the bottom. Of course the creek was only a foot deep but how was I to know! I then heard what I thought were the cries of rescue workers coming to the aid of the weak and unfortunate, but it was only my nearsighted brother rolling on the stream bank in riotous laughter. I stood up, hanging on me were rotting leaves, branches and this kind of slimy green stuff. The smell was that of an open sewer! My caring and concerned brother yelled "Oh my God its Swamp Thing!!" And to add insult to injury before he let me sit in his Subaru he actually made me sit on a large piece of plastic he found in the woods. Oh well thats Geocaching TFTC
