  3. In the area of my "look out for hissing Sid" cache. there are adders in the area as a few signs warn. I have seen Two last year and rescued another that an old dear was trying to beat to death in the front garden of her chalet on the site with a plastic kiddys spade. I coaxed it into a bucket and released it up on the sea wall with it's mates. It did not like having it's picture taken as it tried to have a go at me. (What gratitude). 5. JeremyP said it all. when I left school way back in 1952 I entered the Press photography game. 35mm cameras were laughed at as toys. 5X4 plate or cut film was the norm. as were Speed grafics cameras. Telephoto lenses were six foot long black boxes called "Long toms" 2.1/4 square roll film were at times acceptable. I would have to meet the train to collect the film or plates, and a rush back by taxi too the office. Now days the picture is taken by digital camera and sent via the mobile phone to the office. Arriving minutes after it was taken. My film cameras are now in the loft collecting dust. Digital cameras are now.. But I will agree the quality has still a way to go compared with film
  6. Now come on people. If a cheap camera is got all it will do is to be able to post pics on the web. But even these will not be very viewable. When the camera purchaser realises what the potential is of digital photography, they will want to make more use of it. So I say get the best you can afford. I am into my 4th digital camera and I learnt the hard way..
  7. For £100 you can get a good second hand digital camera such as an Olympus Camedia 1.2 megapixal (I sold one for that price, my first one I owned) look around but those cheap ones that sell for £60 - £80 are rubbish, ask around before you buy.
  8. Ladies and men. here is another site where you can obtain batteries www.strikalite.co.uk I have purchased batteries from them and they are very helpful. The last lot that I got were Sanyo 1600s AA Nimh they also do 1800 Nimh AAs Last week I also bought a charger and 4 Nimh (only 800s but I realy wanted another charger) for £7.99 from Poundstreacher
  9. OK OK So you took your mums out for the day on a cache hunt. As for taking mother-in-laws on the moors... Was it foggy. Yer alright I took my great great grandmothers ashes out on a cache hunt.. So that makes her a 260 year old cacher. Of course you believe this don't you.. Nah! I'm not having this. In this competition they must be a registered gocacher and own a GPS and have been out on their own to find a cache or 3... (I just want to win somthing in my life)
  10. On saturday last I went out with a mate of mine and we found four caches that day in the Hertforshire area. "So what"? you may ask. My mate Philgn, (now hooked on the hunt) is 59 years old I will be getting my "Twerly" in a few months time on my 65th birthday. Are we the oldest geocachers in the UK?
  11. I saw a Yellow Etrex for £118 in a shop along Tottenham court road last week. Shop around.
  12. I have a Kyocera S3 which is a very small digital camera. I have it with me all the time in a case on my belt. I do take pictures of the cache's that I have found. But I forgot to take a pic of the best cache find. That was when I found the final 'Sherlock' cache. What a plonker...

  14. Note:: The Oberlisk on meridium line (Ok so I can't spell. But I know my stations.) It should read CHINGFORD STN As it will be a very long walk from CHIGWELL STN.
  15. This was mentioned some time ago, but it did not develop. Yes it is a very good idea. At least it will give one their local caches location and then start to work further out away from home as and when time permits
  16. I used my Etrex and a Psion series 5. Software was StreetPlanner Millennium. It shows you the way to go when a route is planned. The downside is that there are too many cables floating about. Also Batteries are needed But being a smart *** I built a device that plugged into the cig socket that powered both bits of kit. Again more cables. I got fed up with this and have now got a StreetPilot Atlantic Mono. As stated this can be transfered to other motor when needed.
