  1. What a complete and total waste of time. Having tried to work with Mapquest in the past on a prior project, and experiencing the exact same problems you are experiencing (disappearing tiles at zoomed levels, tiles disappearing that were there moments ago at the same zoom level) it's pretty apparent that Mapquest has no intention of ever improving their system. My experience was 5+ years ago, and not a single improvement has been made to date.
  2. I helped a cacher team hide a bunch. But I went back months later and "found" them and stamped the logs, while grabbing others in that area.
  3. Make a decent offer, remember, it's a brand new replacement from Magellan.
  4. I'm selling my Magellan iPhone ToughCase for the 3 and 3GS iPhones. This is a REAL GPS for the iPhone, has an internal battery which doubles the standard battery life, and is waterproof to IPX-7 (means 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes) This is essentially BRAND NEW, it was recently replaced as part of the voluntary Recall to "enable non-static navigation" so that it would update position even at walking speed. The recall was handled directly through Magellan. Included is TWO extra gasket replacement kits (it normally comes with a replacement, and their recall replacement came with one too, so I have two spares), the USB cable (for charging and data-pass-through for the iPhone), and manuals/paperwork. Additional Info: http://www.magellangps.com/lp/toughcase/index.html I'm asking $75 FIRM + Shipping, and I accept Paypal. Serious inquiries only.
  5. Hi Brian, I emailed you. Someone did contact me from this thread, and I purchased a dummy display unit from him to fix my buttons.
  6. I need to get my paws on a broken garmin 60CSx, in particular, the buttons. Message me via the Geocaching.com messaging system if you can help. Thank you!
  7. I think you're getting confused between someone uploading a list of their caches found, which may include caches that you own, and actually having your caches hosted on that site. When someone uploads a list of their finds, all it does it to post the cache name and date they found the cache in their profile. It does not list them for others to find. You're correct, that's exactly what I assumed.
  8. I'm switching all of my hides to "Premium Member" caches! I don't want them on at site at all. I wonder if by doing that, it keeps someone from being able to upload them to their site. I also wonder if OC.com having proprietary data on it, like Premium caches and Pocket Query data (information that Groundspeak OWNS) opens them to lawsuits for damages caused to Groundspeak.
  9. Works just fine in Google Chrome, opens in a new tab.
  10. Thats the way it's always worked for me!
  11. Awhile back I suggested they add a "Journal" log box UNDER the Cache Page Log box. This would REPLACE travel bug dipping, but still count miles. Neither Jeremy nor whoever got my email I sent to geocaching.com responded to the suggestion. I have since GIVEN UP trying to journal my finds AT ALL with the use of a TB because it's such an enormous waste of time: 1) Write Log & Drop TB 2) Goto TB Page, Retrieve TB 3) Write Journal Entry 4) Delete Drop Log from TB Page 5) Rinse and Repeat on next cache... 50 Caches in a day is WAY too much to log in this manner... I started doing Step 4 because I noticed that when I viewed my Travel Bug in Google Earth, most of the time it had two locations for a given cache, and they were quite a distance apart sometimes. So I started deleting the blank drop logs. I know some people would consider that the Journaling should be done on the actual cache page itself, but there are things I put in the Journal entries that I would NOT put on the cache log, like spoilers, or spoiling photos, etc... Lastly, now that I use the iPhone exclusively, logging with TB (prior to 4.0) was impossible. And even after 4.0, dipping is impossible. So switching to the iPhone took away this aspect of caching for me.
  12. WORKAROUND: Directly to the LEFT of the Mini-Map is a link named "Geocaching.com Google Map" Click that, and you get what the old mini-map used to link you to.
  13. Simply put, clicking the mini-map would link you to this fully functional google map Example: http://www.geocaching.com/map/default.aspx...;lng=-118.23115
  14. No, but when you clicked on the map, it would open a new tab with the fully functional Google Map. That mini-map was also semi-functional in that you could zoom in and out of it.
  15. Yeah, the map on the right used to be "functional", you could zoom in, out, etc.. Or click the actual map, and it would load the regular google map with other caches too... The new one is pointless and just sits there static like.
  16. I recently found a cache simply lying on the ground. The cache description and clue gave no real idea where the original location was, nor did prior logs. The hint was "moss grows on trees" or something like it... So I stuck it on ledge created by a branch on the north side of the tree, about eye-height. Probably not where it goes, but it makes sense to me.
  17. YES! A Very huge thank you very much from us too! And as a note, I was worried 250 views might not be enough, but after a few uses, it's plenty!
  18. Setup System Interface Choose Garmin Spanner Now when you plug it in it will ask if you want to go into Mass Storage. Choose no when your in your car. I said it MIGHT do that, but I returned it too quickly to find out. You'd think a good idea would have been to make that the DEFAULT option, because of people like me, but alas...
  19. I have had the 60CSx for about 2 years... and I just bought the 400t yesterday. I went out to try to find two caches, and took the 60CSx along just in case. I have polarized sunglasses, and the 400t doesn't work well at all with them, the 60CSx does just fine at the proper viewing angles. The 60CSx map and menus show up very well in direct sunlight, the 400t, not so much, in fact, almost useless in direct sunlight. The sales person told me that if I buy the scoche USB power cigarette lighter adapter, I could use the usb cable as a power cord while driving. Not the case at all, as soon as I plugged it in, the computer came up on the screen as if I plugged it in for data transfer. The map disappears. It MIGHT allow this by changing something in Setup, but I never found it. Trying to find a cache with it is not the easiest thing in the world, the compass screen is not nearly as quick on the refresh rate as the 60CSx, making it hard to zero in on the cache, it wasn't as accurate, and I could not as easily navigate caches. To me, it was not a very enjoyable experience. So I returned the Oregon 400t, and I'm sticking with my 60CSx.
