  1. Thank you everyone for your responses/suggestions. I will take them and go from here. If I have other concerns i will be sure to ask...... -Jace
  2. Thank you for the response. And you are correct, I should have posted my location. It had not crossed my mind. I live in Oregon, United States. Thank you for the information along with the links. Recently, I read a review posted by a Garmin 64s user from a couple of years ago, stating if you buy the download version of the Garmin Topo's you can not 'play' with them on the computer. Whereas buying the DVD version it allows you to do this. I do not see on Garmin's website being able to purchase the TOPO U.S. 24K - West maps on DVD any longer. Download or SD card only. Since that review has been from a couple of years ago, possibly things have changed and you can use the downloadable version on the computer now. -Jace
  3. I have ordered a Garmin 64S and should be here within a few days. I have read in various areas that the Garmin 1:24 Topo maps do not have a very good representation of hiking trails. I am new to Geocaching and GPS and would like software with an accurate representation of hiking trails along with allowing me/us to load geocaches. Don't mind paying for the product, just want it to do what it says it can. I apologize if I have not explained myself very well. Please feel free to ask questions if more information is needed. Thank you. -Jace
  4. Shoops911, I to have been out of work. My last day of work was January 9th. We were living in Round Rock, Texas. We eventually leased out the house to a family and decided to move to Oregon. Was here about a month and now will be settling in Eugene, Oregon and starting my new job this next monday. Keep your head up, positive attitude and keep plugging away at job opportunities. As for caching, I have not had the pleasure of searching for my first cache. I have a PN-40 on order along with a couple of other items. I am excited to get out with my wife and daughter and explore this hobby further. Jason
  5. Thanks guys...........Will do.....Now go watch the race! You guys have a great afternoon. Jason
  6. Well I ordered a PN-40 the other day and then got to thinking.(My downfall according to my wife) I believe the -40 is going to be to complicated for my wife to use. (I know it is, not to tech savvy.) Is there a more simple, GPSr for my wife and daughter to use for geocaching when I am not with them? Of course, I will keep the PN-40 for myself. My daughter is 6 and loves the outdoors so I think this new found hobby is going to be great. Jason
  7. CowboyPapa, Once you home do you charge it through the USB cable as well? If so, how long does it take to charge? (I understand it would depend on how far it is discharged) How do you have it mounted in your Jeep? Jay
  8. After having an Oregon 400t in my shopping cart on Amazon along a couple of other things and about to click the complete order button, a light bulb went off in my head. I had remembered hearing that DeLorme was coming out with a new unit. After a bit of research and reading some reviews I cleared my shopping cart and ordered a -40, 32gb SDHC SanDisk card, and the Subscription to their Map service. This will by the families first GPS unit, other than the TeleNav service my wife and I use on our cell phones. The SanDisk card should be alright, in regards to the brand/reliability? My other question is has anyone tried the Delorme Power kit? It is only a 1300maH Lithium Ion curious about how long this battery lasts before needing a charge? They caution against using any other Lithium Ion battery. I do like the idea of being able to plug in and charge it in the car or at the house. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Jay
