  1. Hey was wondering, I've found some fun looking spots on the google map or similar online maps. Was wondering if there was a map system online that would give you the cordinances of that location as you drag your arrow to that area. I though the map here would do that but not sure anyone know. Thanks
  2. Have done first step, left needs maintaines log, tried contacting lister no response. I think in a few simple steps and in a quicker amount of time we'd have happier hunter's expecially newbies knowing that what they were going after was really there. Think if your listing show's on the map it needs to be there and needs to be reported on least yearly to stay active. Newbies like myself begin in a short period of time beleiving what were going after is a figmount of are imagination. Then we lose intrest then we stop all together. Why not come up with a better system of cache responsibility that seems to have gone way by the way side. Refinement my friends.
  3. I too very new to the game 6 finds 4 just today-2 not sure. Learning a little as I go. Look at the logs of the cache. If you see a bunch of sad faces saying did'nt find expecially by some one who has alot of finds may want to avoid or go check for yourself and report back, but don't expect the best. Also I re-calibrate my compass everytime out. Once when I leave my house and once more when I get out of the car. Also on my gps on setup I set my unit setting to WGS 84 more percise. I intially was thinking exact science, not so. I have a garmin etrex summit $100 set up and I get dang close but not exact 1-3ft. From there just start looking in everything. You can also check your gps by marking a waypoint of a bucket or something in your yard then go around the corner and try to go back to it looking at your gps and the ground and see how close you get. Also read what your looking for and even use the decrypt and get the hint. Load up the kids grab what you need for the cache and head out the door. I hate making the kids cry when we can't find them either. I've also tried to e-mail the cache placer to see if they have the current status before I go out. Remember make sure what your looking for and what you need to do and sometimes a story of good times may contain the hint and look all around and if nothing try to contact the lister of the cache and if no response try to contact some of those who found it and ask them questions. Also remember and I'm trying to have the web site come up with a solution is that some of the caches are listed never maintained probably gone, lister never responds and were probably looking for nothing like I think my last place I went too. Good luck, hope this helps. Olaveson
  4. New to the game. Seem to find some then other's don't . I've started to check the last logs to avoid the can't find caches. What about the ones that have all good history, then you go look for, can't find, try to contact owner no response. I had a thought that came to my head that would eliminate a big headache for all. I'm guessing that alot of caches are place and owner never returns. New guy like me join's the game and see's all these spots to go look for that may or may not be there. So I got to thinking would'nt it be great that there could be something created to eliminate these caches. I know in the listing of a cache agreement you have all these responsibility's but why not the site take control in some way. Here's an idea that came to my head after I dug through a bunch of limbs in a tube and snow to know avail. I saw that the trees in the area and a fire had gone through and maybe the cache removed to. Sure would be nice to have the listing of the cache posted only if maintained and reported to the site. That way when we head out the door it's all up to me and my GPS. Here's the thought, I tried to contact the person to tell them that cache site needed to be checked, no response. Also did a quick check noticed 3mths after they logged the cache was the last time they visited there web site account. So much for that responsibility they agreed to. So was thinking maybe we tie there cache listing to there log on time min once a year and make them report the status to keep it activated. Also maybe the site could e-mail them once a year to report and log into a maintaince log and if they don't respond delete there cache listings. Sure would get the game back to the intention. Like to search for the treasure's that are there just need to be found, ain't that the point of the game. . I contacted the website via e-mail they thought idea should be run by other's. What you guy's think, I hate treasure hunting for nothing.
