  1. Favourites are the best thing since geocachinguk's rating system disappeared! I've awarded quite a few, still have plenty in reserve, and use them (as I did with guk) to help choose which caches might be worth going for. I don't exclude un-favourited caches, but it's a good starting point. And the favourites-to-finds ratio is even more help - wish there was a way of searching on that... Baz.
  2. Sorry, bit of a late entry: Taken at Tank-tastic (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=b9d420ab-fb8a-48c5-b748-949171d4025f) last November...
  3. That's the problem with old cachers - the memory starts to fade...
  4. Ah yes, 120 mile round trip to get there. A day of driving 80+ miles round a bunch of tossed into a grass verge caches with no actual cache contents which were never published, in the hope of finding a final bonus cache, which never materialised and then standing in the rain watching 5 seconds of fizzle... and paying £7 per head for the privilege. Happy days! You didn't mention the burgers.
  5. Very close... I could almost have seen yours across the lake from where I moved to! However, since then I've moved to Northampton - so much less caching in MK these days.
  6. I used to have one in MK that I could watch from my office window...
  7. Try searching for H2O (http://coord.info/GC1196Q) by Messe, and the tribute "Messe-ing about in the water" (http://coord.info/GC15GRM) - both of which may or may not involve something similar to what you describe... Oxfordshire (I think) and Northants.
  8. thepanteras have a few in Northants: Boat Only 1 Boat Only 2 Boat Only 3 Boat Only 4 and The Boat Only Event #2 coming up a just a few weeks (the first one was great fun!)
  9. Lorri, Kev - did you not take *any* notice when you completed my 10 Year Wherigo???? I've a good mind to delete your log for not paying attention... Baz.
  10. Neil, Are you on facebook? If so, try: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/gro...gid=47540850959
  11. Many foreign caches have bi- or multi-lingual translations on the cache page itself. How many UK hiders have been that considerate? (not me, that's for sure).
  12. I know that one because I've found it! So I'm disqualifying myself... It's about time Google got a better set of satellite imagery for the nearby island.
  13. I thought this was going to be too easy, since it's very much along the same lines as Paul's one. The clue is in the question.
  14. This is not the first one either, or is it?
  15. Well, if I were to assume that the first cache would be GC1, but instead of typing it in the "GC Code" search box I entered it in the "Keyword" search box - then I might be taken to: GC1 by Pheligan, which of course is not GC1 at all, but GC1B53.
  16. Is it the one at the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum in New York? If so, the nearest cache would be: GC1AEVT - Measuring Circles (currently inaccessible).
  17. I found this on Slashdot: "The Galaxy 15 commercial satellite has not responded to commands since solar flares fried its CPU in April, and it won't turn off. Intelsat controllers moved all commercial payloads to other birds except for WAAS, a system that adds accuracy to GPS for landing aircraft and finding wayward geocaches. Since the satellite runs in 'bent pipe' mode, amplifying wide bands of RF that are beamed up to it, it is likely to interfere with other satellites as it crosses their orbital slots on its way to an earth-sun Lagrange point, the natural final destination of a geostationary satellite without maneuvering power." Could be a good excuse for that DNF...
  18. I've just placed my first, which was developed entirely using sTeamTraen's excellent Earwigo Web based builder. Happy to help if you need any advice - email me through my profile. Baz.
  19. Not here they're not... Hammy's on strike again?
  20. It depends on the cache obviously, but I did find this site useful recently...
