  1. Compass - I presume that it has a compass like my etrexH - only works when moving, where as the 300 works while stationary? or do you mean it doesn't have one at all?
  2. Where can I find a comparison chart for the Oregon 200 against the 300 Any ideas? Found one Thanks anyway.
  3. I was about to hide a cache in a new modern"art" installation on the side of a roundabout on a main road. Went to place the cache and found someone had already placed a brand new unpublished cache in the exact same place as I was about to use. IsItArt Has not seen much action unfortunately as its quite a prominent monstrosity, parking is about 300ft away so all those who C&D's cant be bothered. Here's the question I was posing at the time disabled upon publication
  4. This is the cache I originally posted about Is It Art Has not seen much action unfortunately as its quite a prominent monstrosity, but parking is about 300ft away so all those who C&D's cant be bothered.
  5. Thanks, that's the same way we would use them. I thought it was me
  6. Talking of round-abouts, in the UK; ours work that trafic on the round-about has priority (priority to the right) How do they work in the US, we were in MA last year (we love the US) and they used to scare the hell out of me. Sometimes people would just drive straight onto and off the roundabout with no apparent priority. I know they aren't that common in the states but what's the correct way to use a roundabout?
  7. Equally, the existence of a RoW is in no way affected by subsequent mapping (in)accuracies. How can you tell if the published footpath/ROW is legitimate. There is a footpath near me, that has a branch through a field. The owners (renters) have posted a No ROW sign at the top of the filed. How would you prove one way or the other.
  8. Have you ever seen one of these New GPS
  9. Yep, when the cache is published I'll post a link. PM'd the link for now.
  10. Neither, found a brand new unpublished cache in the exact same place I was going to place it.
  11. And Just to rub salt in, someone is already publishing a cache there at the moment
  12. Thats exactly what I wanted to avoid. Never mind, It was more about making sure that no one else was doing the same cache and someone losing out, being unable to post their cache. Thanks for all the responses.
  13. How do I publish a cache that is disabled upon publication. That is, the reviewer ok’s the cache and it is published. Will the reviewer disable it if I ask via the - Note to Reviewer: Or do I have to look out for it to be published (check my email) and then disable it. I don’t have physical access to GZ to plant the cache at the moment as its fenced off but want to get it all ready. So that its active as soon as its unveiled.
  14. There was an article in either Country Walking or Trail about 2 months ago and a guy was using cycling gloves - waterproof warm and flexible. Sorry I cant be more specific.
  15. Did my 100th cache Yesterday (09/09/09). The forecast of good weather prompted me to walk for the first time up to Corn Du, Pen Y Fan and Cribyn. GC5250 MrsJP flatly refused to have anything to do with it! She missed some glorious views but Cribyn was a bit of a slog. I also got my 1st FTF Tuesday (08/09/09) GC1XGJT And Today - Thursday 10/09/09 is my 26th wedding anniversary Not a bad week so far
  16. What’s the best thing to waterproof leather boots with? They’re about 8months old haven’t worn them for a couple of months and put them on last week to do a really wet cache and got a wet foot – through the bottom of the tongue.
  17. Happened to me again today at Under the big "W" and for those who have never had the pleasure, have a gander at Charging Cows and check out the others on the right hand side. as you can tell these things aren't that isolated!
  18. Thanks all, Easy when you think about it, Doh!
  19. how do you search the forum I was looking for the big post about cows searched cow = not enough letters searched *cow* = not enough letters searched for my name came up with my last 4 posts only any ideas
  20. Did one today which had a very interesting description and was looking forward to finding it. Turned out to be down a back lane, on the side of a ravine covered in builders rubble surrounded by trees.
  21. I have started putting 1d and h'peny coins in decent caches not necessarily as trades, these are cheap to get hold of and many people will not have seen them before. I keep finding 1p or some times a 5p coins in caches, two weeks ago I found a Magnum (lolly) stick in a cache. Presumably these have been used as trades
  22. Anyone know where I can find the tide times for Cardiff, Swansea and Gower - preferably some where that stays up-to-date.
  23. Ho Hum - just to prove what I said was true - GC1VA9X
  24. Slow uploads may be caused by file size - Why would I need to change my photos? When your camera captures a photograph the resulting size can be in excess of 3mb (3000kb). When we resize the photo we can reduce the size to less than 100kb with little or no perceptible visual difference. The smaller size photos are no longer usable to print out but when viewed on a web site you will not tell the difference. Have you ever viewed wallpaper that scans from side to side to build up the picture, or tried to look at a hi-res photo that takes ages to load? Well this is why we should not use normal photos on web sites due to the slow loading times. Resized photos load almost instantaneously and take up much less space on the server making them quicker. Picture resizing and watermarking In Picasa , select your pictures and using - File, export picture to folder dialogue, Image size options = 800 Pixels, Image quality = Minimum, add a watermark text if required . Then click OK to save the photos that are now ready to post on the site and never fear the originals are still intact.
  25. Personally, I don't think so. But my next cache will be a bigger container with lots of swaps in an easy flat location (wheelchair accessible) except the last 25ft, in a picturesque setting; I can guarantee this will have lots more traffic. Not because of the toys but due to the less effort required to get to it.
