  1. Tohoku-area is still tough. ・Over 9000 people dead ・13000 and more people missing ・Nuclear plants still not cool-down ・Many people in this area need food, water, medicine, heating appliance,, we have many but there is a problem in distribution because lack of fuel (improved little by little). In other hands, today, many(19caches) published in Kanto-area(Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba-Pref). And EVENT CACNE will held the week after next "HANAMI 2011" at Ueno-park in Tokyo. "HANAMI" event had been held for 7 years. In this time, we may talk about this in HANAMI event cache.
  2. Thank you popokiiti. I will report as can as I possible. matz
  3. Reporting from "matz" living in Tokyo. I checked the cache which with in "Off-limits(30km from nuclear plants)" area. But there is no caches in the area. The closest cache is GH2FRMF. It is 32km far from nuclear plants. B U T. ############################################### PLEASE DO NOT PLAY GEOCACHING IN FOLLOWING PREFECTURE. IWATE-Pref MIYAGI-Pref FUKUSHIMA-Pref and North part of IBARAGI-Pref ############################################### Many people dies and missing (over 20000) and much people worried about the lack of goods(food, clothing, clean toilet, gas etc.). Other prefecture which is located in EAST TO NORTH is not safe, also. Earthquake still occurs 3 to 5 times a day even here in Tokyo. If you want to do geocahcing at "TOHOKU-AREA" and "north side of KANTO-AREA" you should ask to cache owner it is safe or not before you go. If no response, you should not go to the cache. matz
  4. Reporting from Tokyo Japan (about 250km far from stricken area). Earthquake is still occurs about 5 or more times per day even here in Tokyo. My family is well. We heard that many country propose to help Japan, I'm very glad to hear it. Over 20000 people dead or missing・・・ at the area stricken. Nuclear plant still not cool-down completely. It is the most troublesome. The action on this problem of "Japanese Government" and "Kanto Electric company" is not good. I think it is very difficult to make Japan geocacher check-in thread. Japan geocacher who lives in middle to west-south area and Hokkaido area must be fine. But Tohoku-area(stricken) is in very serious trouble now, they must not access to this forum until their life recover. Many people lost their family and home... We will get them over. Please pray to recover for us. Thank you.
  5. Report from Tokyo Japan. I checked the cache near from my home. There is no trouble to find the cache. I think 13feet is GPSr's margin as shadowmib saids. In Tohoku-area(Miyagi, Iwate, Fukushima .. Pref) the land may be moved more but you "DO NOT CLOSE TO THESE AREA TO PLAY GEOCACHIG" now. If there are some trouble to find, the cache owner will be maintain their coordinates some day. There is no time to maintain cache information now. ##### Some geocacher stars to change cache status to "Temporary Disabled". ex:GCVV41

Groundspeak.com/productDetail....mp;ProductID=47 Hi Cattledogs, Your character does not become "bakeji". We can read your writing well. Can't you read Japanese character even if you can write them? I do not know how it can happen but please tell us what is wrong in detail.

Japanese geocacher "kussy" will come to Tokyo from Osaka tomorrow. He saids that "I will have supper at IZAKAYA that is located near Shibuya-Station(JR line) and if someone interest to join me, please feel free to come." on Japanese geocacher's BBS. http://etrexer.web.infoseek.co.jp/cgi-bin/gcbbs.cgi When : 12 Aug (tomorrow) 18:00(6:00PM)- Where : bar style "IZAKAYA SEN" http://izakayasen.cool.ne.jp/ (japanese) Only 5-7 minutes walk from Shibuya Station Hachiko-Exit. N 35°39.617' E 139°42.155' You'll see big red lantern at the front of the bar. He'll put geocaching.com's hat on his table, so you will not miss him. If you need English map to the "IZAKAYA SEN". I'll make and send you. I want to participate in this small event as much as possible. matz Tokyo/Japan
  12. Hi, Once you get satelites and got your location collectly in Tokyo, you can use GPSr as you use in US. But when you move over 800km(500mile?), your GPSr needs 15min again. Please see the manual below. P4(what is GPS) and P5(Initialization) http://www.garmin.com/products/manual.jsp?...ct=010-00185-00 It can happen when you back to US. matz Tokyo/Japan
  13. Hi, I received e-mail from you directly. I replied it already. Check it please.
  14. I think budd-rdc-san's comment is perfect. The translation site's results are horrible. If you do not want to install Japanese fonts on your PC and eager to describe on Kanji character, I can send jpg image of these contents. matz Tokyo/Japan.
  15. Hi, I'm "matz" living in Tokyo/Japan. If you want send TBs to Tokyo. I can help you. Please contact me directly. Regards,
  16. Hello, I received the information fron kussy who lives in Osaka-Pref. There is no real(regular or small or micro) cache near the hotel. Most easy accesible cache is VIRTUAL. Only 300m from your hotel. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GCG49D Next cache is VIRTUAL also. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GCHJCN To get here, you need to use train. UMEDA station ----(OSAKA MIDOSUJI Line)---> HONMACHI HONMACHI ----(OSAKA CHUO Line)---> OSAKA-KO 30 min from UMEDA station to OSAKA-KO. If you keen for finding regular cache. Try caches as follows. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GCHHT5 Nearest station is JR TAISYO station. 15min from JR OSAKA station. Enjoy!
  17. I received email from baileynippon4-san tomorrow. I'm very glad to hear from him and I think he made great job to make DAIBUTSU-KAMAKURA japanese GEO-COIN!! I'm very sorry that I did not check the thread for long time. I'm very busy on my business now. But there is TWO PROBLEM that I must say. (1)budd-rdc-san who suggested you to contact to me saids that "he's proficient in English"..... That is not true. I'm not good at to speak and write English. Actually there needs much time to write this. (2)The character currently written to it is not right. wrong: DIABUTSU-KAMAKURA right: DAIBUTSU-KAMAKURA And all most Japanese call the statue as "KAMAKURA-DAIBUSTU". You had better to fix it. "DIABUTSU-KAMAKURA" does not make any sense. I do not mind this coin will be official or not, but if you decide to make it as official, the name shold be "KAMAKURA-DAIBUTSU-Geocoin", not Japanese geocoin because the design is only for KAMAKURA area. I can't wait your KAMAKURA japanese GeoCoin! Even it will official or not. I'll be sure and want to buy 1Gold and 2Nickels. matz Tokyo Japan

    Mapsource Okinawa

You can not load the Japanese detail maps into your English version GARMIN60CS as I can't (I've eTrex Legend English version). If you want to load Okinawa area maps, all you can choice is WORLDMAP(from GARMIN). But I think it will not satisfy you(poor map). Japanese map is loadable only into Japanese version GARMIN products. It is very expensive. For example 60CS Japanese version is over $1000. It can display Japanese character. Many of Japanese geocacher do not use Japanese version. But there must be some solution, When I have other information about this, I'll e-mail you. And I'll ask to other Japanese geocachers.
  21. Hello, I'm living in Tokyo-MitakaCity which is located 25miles north from Kamakura as the crow flies. I'll tell your request to Japanese geocaching Web site's BBS. We are looking forward to returning you back to Japan.

  23. Hi, I searched Funakoshi-Gichin-sensei on the web. Surely, there is a monument in Kamakura-Enkakuji. A letter is engraved into a monument. It is his words. "KARATE NI SENTE NASI" Perhaps you know there was some story about him in URL below. http://www.jka.or.jp/english/about/funakoshi.html I could not find the monument photo and I do not know the specific coordination of the monument. The coordinats below is Enkakuji's. Coord: Enkakuji N35'20.262 E139'32.870 And I searched his grave but I only had a information that "his grave is located in Kawasaki-city". There is 2 Zensyoji in the city but no information about him. If I have more information about him I'll send e-mail to you. <Japan Karate Association> http://www.jka.or.jp/ (Japanese and English) <Enkakuji> http://www.engakuji.or.jp/index.shtml (Japanese only) matz
