  1. I remember when I started Geocaching and started using a cheap GPS... If I knew then what I know now, I would have footed the extra $$ for something a little nicer and FASTER. I have an Oregon 450 for sale, which has a much larger color screen, faster processor, PAPERLESS GEOCACHING! It has the cables, carrying case, and even the original box for $175. It has some trail use, with minor blemishes, but its definitely a few steps ahead of what you are going to find under $100. In the end.. whatever you decide to do, ENJOY THE RIDE and just foot the extra $$ for something a little beefier, with more options, and you WONT regret it!! Most of those cheaper GPS units come with very little internal memory and wont even accept an SD card for expansion (something I wasn't aware of when I purchased my first GPS) Not to mention they are usually painfully slow! If you are interested in the one I have for sale, just shoot me an E-mail.

  3. While I have not had the issues that the OP mentions, there is one VERY good reason I went with Delorme....and that would be post #16. Lately it seems as though customer service has been thrown out the door with many companies, to which I get really frustrated. The way this company stands by their product and continually absorbs the community feedback for implementation into their products is awesome. Thank you Chip, and Delorme as a whole..
  4. Okay, I am new to the forum and thought I would make this my first post. I have seen so many threads like these where someone states how difficult the Topo 7 software is to use. I would like to point out two things that will hopefully help the thread author. 1st- The preloaded maps that come on the CD's are as easy to install on the Delorme as any other program on your computer. As it has been stated already, the Topo 7 software is for when you want to get "serious" about making some really cool maps. And let me tell you (as a newbie to GPS) I was making maps and had them downloaded on my GPS within an hour of starting the program, and I have NO professional technology background in GPS or anything else for that matter.. its just really NOT that hard to figure out. Especially with all the tutorials, and forums that are available to help figure it out. 2nd- I have used (I don't own) but have used a 60CSx, and while I do like the larger screen size, It DOES NOT have the paperless caching abilities that you will find in the Delorme. Not to mention that the 60CSx (at least to my knowledge) is out of your price range if you want to stay under the $200 mark. The PN-20 is personally the clear choice at that price range. If you want to spend more than that, I would highly recommend the PN-40 (which is more in line with the 60CSx pricing).
