  1. Ephrael & I take our camera everywhere we go, and take pictures of any caches that we think we can get a good photo out of. All TB's passing throug hus so far have had a photo taken, generally to fit their mission or something relevant - we enjoy adding stories to the TB logs!
  2. Troll: The Provoking is a game idea created by an online fanzine dedicated to 'role playing games'. Read, and decide if the accused is in fact playing it. Oh, and the guys at Critical Miss (who wrote the above game) are nice guys - it's unlikely it's one of them trying it.
  3. I'm not sure what the point is here - my name is RedHillian - there are many people who know me as that, and it's my idenity. If you meet me for real, you get to know who I am for real - I look like my avatar so it's not a secret idenity of any sort, and there are peopel who know me for real, who still call me RedHillian. There is a given name, and it's not a secret either, just I choose to call myself RedHillian electronically - it's as much a part of my identity as any other facet.
  4. The one and the same. Blimey it's a small world.
  5. Life's so much easier when you're a lightweight like me - you go out and do one cache, then come home. Any bugs collected are still in your pocket!
  6. This is not a test, so much as an excuse to wave my backside in your face.
  7. 500! Blimey, and here's me getting excited about getting my 10th next cache.
  8. [self erased because it was far to offensive, even with 'gosh' all over it.]
  9. Well, job wise I'm a professional first-aider and I also work in technical theatre and as a roadie from time to time, plus bits and pices of office work and warehouse work/driving. I've also personally seen a: Long Stand Long Weight Pot of Elbow Grease Bag of rocking horse [poo] Sky Hook Glass Hammer Left-handed screwdriver Monochrome videotape Dark bulb 2metres of Pachyderm Trunking Which kind of ruins the wind up potential finding the real items, but it does make the storesmasters day when he gets to send the apprentice back with the noted item for the foreman still trying an old joke. Ephrael's a civil servant (for local governmant), and Spooky-CSI who we're often with is a Forensic Scientist and Expedition Leader!
  10. Well, Mr Strong was a boy, and I think Kitten 4 is neuter. I haven't actually come across a 'girl' TB yet, but we'll see - maybe it's like cars (some have boys, some have girls). What do you reckon My Keys are???
  11. Almost a good idea, with the one flaw..... How do us newbies ask for help?
  12. Have you seen BookCrossing? - it's quite similar to what you've laid out above and I think would work well with what you're trying to achieve.
  13. I have a TB tag as a keyring, activated but I don't log it anywhere - just 'cos it looks cool. I'll send you the number if you want to 'capture' it for a while, but I'll whine and curse your name everytime I can't find my keys... (you can look at TBG3A6 if you want to see them!)
  14. I can't remember what my avatar or signature looks like. hang on.....
  15. Well, personally I only keep water in mine, to reduce the chance of anything going sticky - which is a good way to start. I empty and rinse if after every session - and hang it up to dry using a modified coat hanger inserted in the bladder to keep it open. Some people recommend then putting the dried bladder in the freezer or fridge to discourage growth of any moulds etc, but I've never tried it. When it needs a wash - if for instance it's been a while since I last used it - I wash it out with hot water first, using an oversized bottle brush and then rinse. I then leave it to soak for half an hour or so in a mild 'Milton' solution - I don't know if you have 'Milton' in the states, it's a sterelising fluid made for cleaning babies bottles etc, made in the UK by Procter & Gamble. The label says it's active ingredients are: Sodium Hypochlorite 2% w/w, Sodium chloride 16.5% w/w if you want to find a analog. It's good at cleaning the bladder used as per directions, but it can leave a taste in the bladder so I picked up a trick a few years ago that works wonders. Having rinsed the bag out from the Milton, I then fill it with plain water and add a cap full of minth breath-freshening mouthwash, swill it round and empty it. A final quick rinse and it's done - either hang to dry or fill and use! This isn't neccessarily the best / most effecient way, but it works for me!
  16. I carry my Gerber everywhere with me - caching or not. It get used constantly at work - it's my main tool there and I'm never without it. I keep the thing in a 'NiteIze pockits' belt pouch with a mini-maglite, pair of specialised screwdrivers, pen, marker and spare batteries. I personally prefer the Greber over the Leathermans, as I can deploy and use the Gerber with a single hand - a real benefit at work where there's a very good chance I'm up a ladder / down a hole / only have 1 hand free, but I know some peopel just don't like them. I've never had a problem with the Gerber, save snapping one attachment through mis-use, but it's replaceable. For me, it's always on my belt, the one and only time I had to fly anywhere recently I felt lost without it for the whole journey and the few time's I've taken it off to go out for an evening I've found something I wanted it for. As for 'caching, well of course it'll be with me!
  17. Having read through this thread, and posted pictures of my two bugs without their numbers visible (photoshopped them out), I'm tempted to repost the pictures with the numbers in again, just to see how quickly they fly off around the world! This is of course only amusing when you realise that TBG3A6 & TBG7J0 are attached to my keys and my GPSr respectively, and I can't be bothered to use them as tracking devices either, I just like them as keyrings! It'd be interesting to see who 'grabs' them off me!
  18. Getting a little OT here, but as a fellow 'proper Pooh' fan, have a look at [GC2947] - it's The original Poohsticks bridge, that A.A. Milne wrote about - right in the heart of Pooh's territory (aka The Ashdown Forest in Sussex, UK) - if you search based on the co-ords for that one, you find a whole load more caches themed similar! Hope you enjoy looking, even if it's from a long way away!
  19. Now there's good resources! Cheers for that - I'm in the UK so I'll take a look at the sugesstions!
  20. Hi, Firstly, apologies for being new to these here forums... I've just got into this - bought a Garmin etrex Euro off a mate and managed to get it to (just about) talk to my PC [thanks to interface cable & 'GARtrip' software] - what software packages do people recommend however, I'd like to be able to easily manage waypoints and routes mainly. I apologise in advance for missing any obvious threads about this topic - please feel free to point me at them, flame me and lock the thread - it's what I'd do to you in a similar position
  21. Why do sound engineers only count to 2? Because everybody lifts on 3. I thought it's good. anyway, does avatar work? [yes] .sig - .later [sorted]
