  1. I have an ipod touch. I am considering buying the iGeoCacher app as it supports paperless geocaching using gpx files.
  2. I have the 2nd generation touch and gsak as well. Im ok to download an app. But my guestion is does any one know what if any apps you can use the GPX files? I don't want an application that only works when I have a wifi connection, so looking for an ap that can take gpx files and search for and display info like cachemate does.
  3. I have the 660 and noticed on my parents 260w the daytime screen is much brighter than my daytime screen. Actually my night time screen is brighter than my daytime screen which seems odd.
  4. This worked great for my 660. Thanks much for your work on this!!
  5. Another note to this conversation: I bought a Nuvi 660 with the 2008 Map and got the free upgrade to 2009 when I registered the product with garmin.
  6. Thanks for the info. Can any one comment on the sensativity of the Nuvi line? How is it in big cities or on tree lined streets? Since I have so many different Garmin maps it seems to make more cents to stick with them even if the price is higher.
  7. I have a 60Csx but I am looking around for a unit for the car. Since I have a number of Garmin map disks I am leaning torward buying another Garmin for the Car. What I would like in features is: 1. Turn By Turn Voice directions with speaking of street names 2. Color easy to read Touch Screen 3. Easy enough for my wife to also use. I'd like to find the lowest cost one of course as well but with the above feautures. Any suggestions or comments would be helpful
  8. I also have the maps from bicimapas. I have been using these on my Garmin 60Csx. They do sell maps which auto route. In their maps most of the big cities do have street level details. The quality of maps still needs some work.
  9. I was looking into putting a GPS tracking device on a car I own which is currently on loan to a family friend. Any one ever used one of these? And how good or bad are they? Also, the lowest price one which I found was about $200 if any one has seen one for less please let me know.
  10. For mexico GPS maps I have used the maps from http://www.mexicomaps.com/ and they have recently upgraded them to be routable. To my knowledge they only work with Garmin GPS receivers.
  11. Any one know of any lower cost (in relation to City Navigator or Metroguide Europe) maps of the Netherands which can be used in Mapsource? I hate to buy all of Europe if I only plan to use one country.
  12. I just checked the details of that rebate, and it's only good if you are upgrading from an old version of Mapsource US Topo. http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/0..._V31778602_.pdf I think the price is 109.98 minus the $30 rebate. The $78.87 seems to be the OLD mapsource topo. The first sale date was Jan, 2007 way before the 2008 product was available and the old picture is shown as well.
  13. I have the atlas maps from http://www.mexicomaps.com/ which I think is the same as the www.bicimapas.com site. The atlas covers all of Mexico. The maps are very detailed and have street level detail of the Cancun area. If you go to the Mexico Maps site you can purhcase the Riviera Maya & Yucatan Peninsula GPS Map 2007 for $44. Do be aware that these maps do not autoroute. Hynr- How does a non technical person like myself take the detail in this site http://mapcenter.cgpsmapper.com/catalogue.php?country=152 and transfer it to a map that can be viewed in mapsouce? and or sent to a GPS Device?
  14. Can some one explain how the time to desination is calculated? I have been using my 60CSx of late to route to different places (using the city select software loaded on a 60CSx). It seems to be more intelligent calculation than just using the current speed and total distace. Does it look at the roads ahead (ie a interstate vs a dirt road)? Just curious on how it makes this calculation.
  15. I agree with #1. Would be so nice to have the GPS elevation as a field that could be added on the map page (or other pages). As you could really get a good idea of your altitide in an airplane.
  16. I broke the belt clip itself on a hike. I went looking for a replacement in our local REI and they said the dont carry them and so I called Garmin asking of they sold them as I couldnt find them at REI. The CSR took my address and said he would send the one he had on his desk which arrived a couple of days later. When the shipment arrived it included the button as well.
  17. Some good Saturday reading here in this thread. Me personally I'd rather pay few extra dollars to be able to have customer service like this. Though money is a driving factor one way to for a company to obtian it is to keep the customers you have happy in that many times a happy customer will buy again.
  18. I do use these mexico maps often and have helped me quite a bit even in areas where they didnt have street level detail. If your going to do any driving in Mexico these maps are by far your best option. I have the Mexico atlas and topo atlas.
  19. I broke the belt clip and they sent me a brand new one. They asked if I needed the button as well and my guess is if I had said yes they would have sent that too. The clip was about 9 months old and I would have been happy to pay for it but happier to get it for free.
  20. I have a feeling that Metro Guide does not auto-route on the unit itself. I think thats the difference between metro guide and the other city nav software they offer. When I read their specs online it just says Automatically creates point-to-point routes on PC and once downloaded to a compatible Garmin GPS you can read the specs here: http://www.garmin.com/cartography/mapSource/mgCanada.jsp
  21. Very good to hear. I recently broke the belt clip for my 60csx. I broke the clip in an accident with my hiking stick. I tried to buy a new one but couldnt find it at the store and so I emailed them and they sent a new one.
  22. You can also go to www.mexicomaps.com and they have topo map of Mexico. I use it on my Garmin GPS its not cheep but it has a lot of detailed roads that I wouldnt otherwise have had.
  23. From some of the conversations above out Altitude Illnesses makes me wonder if what the levels of oxygen are in an airplane. I have seen my GPS barometric altimeter report as high as about 8500 feet on an airplane but i have a feeling that the oxygen levels inside the plan are higher than they would be at 8500 on land. Any one know this?
  24. Thanks. I do see the wandering during our stop for lunch though. The setting was on normal and I will have to test some of the less often settings and see if that makes a difference. Or maybe just turn off the unit when stopped would also suffice.
  25. I took my 60CSx out for a hike today. This was the first hike since upgrading to Software Version 3.00 and GPS SW version 2.70. Some of the hike was in heavy tree cover and good to see the unti never lost the sat lock. After the hike the odometer read 5.25miles. When I got home I see the track log for the hike comes to 6.1 miles. Have you seen this issue recently? I remember reading about this in an older thread and thought it had been fixed. Are others still seeing these differences?
