  1. The Vermont Geocaching Association (VGA) closed its doors soon after opening. It was decided that two Geocaching "clubs" were not needed.
  2. I can live with the growing pains. A red star is all I get on most of my caches in Vermont also. I hope it changes soon. It is pretty annoying and adds zero to the page. I can wait though.
  3. I am redeploying from Iraq in a few weeks and I am looking for some must do caches in the El Paso, TX area. I am open for anything. I dont mind having to hump up a mountain for a scenic view or being devious in downtown El Paso. The prettier the better. I am actually quite sick of city life being in Baghdad for the past year. Thanks in advance to all who respond.
  4. PG1665 in Berlin, VT is still standing and still operational since 1959 guiding small planes onto the Barre-Montpelier Airport (don't laugh). I drive by it twice a day to work. I thought I had "found" this one, but after checking the datasheet, it must have slipped by me.
  5. Hey everyone, In a few months I am coming home from Iraq after a year. I am going to be at FT Bliss, El Paso, TX for about a week (I might be pursuaded to stay an extra day for a really good cache). I am not looking for 5/5 caches. I am looking for scenery, beauty, history. 3/3 is no problem for me. I am not partial to micros, but it it is good, I will attempt it. Let me know what you think. I fly into FT Bliss on my way home to Vermont in April. Hiking caches would be a definate plus. I will bump this every now and then for some more feedback. Thanks in advance. Andrew aka BilboB
  6. I dont even have a tree to put one on. Then again none of us will have one here in Baghdad.
  7. PEOPLE GET A GRIP! I am in Iraq and will not even see a green jeep TB unitl next SUMMER let alone keep a few in hand for a couple of extra weeks.
  8. It all sounds a little too complicated for me (and the 4 year old that falls in love with your TB), but do what you need to do to make it work. Truth be told, if I came across this TB, I would probably leave it in the cache.
  9. I had the best of intentions of getting back into finding benchmarks this summer, but I am leaving for a 1 year deployment to Iraq this weekend. You can take my name off the stats page. I will not be contributing to the event. Thanks.
  10. I just recieved a gold and silver czech geocoins yesterday and they are very cool! My kids love them and wont stop playing with them, but that will change soon.
  11. I got mine yesterday and the my kids have already taken them over and decided to use them as play money. They can have their fun for now, but they are going in caches very soon.
  12. I just ordered 2 sets and it took all of 30 seconds to do. No problems here.
  13. I love looking at these photos. I think this thread is one of the best in the forums.
  14. If you want to do it and you paid the $5 for the TB tag, you go right ahead. Chances are it will never make it though, but I have been surprised by lesser things.
  15. I know there have been some server issues at the home station. Be patient, I am sure there is a good reason. You can still cache and log your finds later when you do get validated.
  16. I have had 6 police run-ins. 2 were pretty bad, 1 was downright scary, but all in all, after a little overreaction on thier part, I was able to explain my way out of anything bad. It helps not to be doing anything wrong to begin with.

    Logging

I very rarely log a DNF. The only time I do is if it requires a long hike, or it is an out of the ordinary type cache that a DNF is necessary.
  18. Thanks. I wasnt paying attention I guess. Done.
  19. Is there a way to turn off the email notification when someone finds a cache that you have in a bookmark? I am going away for a few weeks and dont want my in box filled up with finds to caches I am not concerned about at the present time. I dont want to get rid of the bookmarks thought? Can anyone help?

    Muggle ?

So if I take a friend along who could care less about finding the cache, but is with me when I do, and she has been with me for more than half a dozen caches, is she still a muggle until she finds one? She has asked me on numerous occasions when she will be termed a cacher and not a muggler.
  21. I remember my first time...finding my first cache that is.
