  1. Welcome to the club Rayman77. Over the past few years, I have learned quite a lot from the people here. I lurked for awhile, and then started posting and the answers to my questions were always well though-out and informative. I am a history buff and I love the hunt for an interesting mark and the "why here?" associated with it.
  2. In March of this year I was within 20 meters of a cache on Camp Shelby, Mississippi when the sky turned black, the rain came down sideways, and the wind started to whip trees around. I had to abandon the hunt (for fear of my life) and walk/run the 2 miles back to the barracks. The storm started tornados that killed 3 people in Georgia later that day. It was scary to say the least.
  3. I have had bugs for months and others have had my bugs for months. Who cares. People get busy. People's lives do not revolve around geocaching. If you do not like what happens to your TB's, dont let them go!
  4. I had purchased my Etrex Vista for a rotation in Bosnia when someone over there told me about GCing. I did not have the time over there (too many landmines anyway), so when home I started up and have been addicted ever since. Have turned a few others on as well.
  5. I have refrained here and now to ever write TNLNSL again.
  6. It means that there is a requirement for stealth to find the cache. Sorry, I had to say it.
  7. Get yourself a copy of the Groundspeak calendar for 2005. It has the names (and waypoints) for the first caches in each state and quite a few countries around the world. I had no idea the first one in Vermont is less than 50 miles from me!
  8. I have flown all over the country and had both my GPSr and TB's, and have never had a problem with each. It is the people that dont have a clue, that are the ones that can give you a problem.
  9. I was caching in Oklahoma last month and came upon a freshly killed deer carcasse. The blood had not even dried yet. and something had ripped into it VERY recently. I looked for tracks but it was too grassy. I figured what the hey and moved on to the cache (it was only about 50 meters away).
  10. Welcome. If you could find all of them first time, it wouldnt be that much fun!
  11. Only after I have given up do I post a DNF. Some caches around me (Vermont) I have been to six or seven times, but I have never posted a DNF. Others go right to it, found without a problem, easy...I hate that.
  12. I dont get offended, I just get even.
  13. I was caching in Oklahoma last month when an armadillo scared the crap out of me! They are quick too.
  14. I am impressed with the video. I bet if you look hard enough with a metal detector you might find something.
  15. You cant go wrong by reading the mark's description. If the point is the top of the tower, then there you have it. If the mark is ground level with the tower over it, there you have it again.
  16. Are you logging any and all finds? Do you keep track of multiple finds? I have come upon people that treat benchmarking like geocaching. If someone has "found" it, then they are not FTF, so they dont bother. I know a lot of my hunting is seasonal too. Gas $$ is not a factor...yet.
  17. Ahhh, the pleasures of finding benchmarks. I have been waiting all winter for the snow to clear.
  18. I would have grabbed it first, reported it and returned it if needed. Would be a nice souvenir. Too far of a drive for me...you're lucky.
  19. Hey evenfall, thanks for not going down the rabbit hole I set up. It would not have been worth it. Speak your mind, and say what you want. At least you have the fortitude to understand what happened, instead of starting a flame war that could have really gotten out of hand.
  20. Hey evenfall, what makes 25 recoveries such an expert to flame others and their opinions. Here's my opinion...keep your stupid comments to yourself.
  21. More impressive with just a map and a compass.
  22. I am going after the GPS Signal Improvenator this weekend. Not sure where I will drop it off, but does anyone know of any TB that is heavier? The owner "guesses" it to be around 50lbs.
  23. I log my personal bug to see how many miles I cache in a year. Of course it is not exact science, but it shows how obsessed I am when I look back.
