  1. Hi there, Recently, i have purchased a sony ericsson c903. This has a built in gps. I was wondering if it is possible to geocache with this. If you can not navigate to cache using it, then is it possible to hold the description and clue on it. I would probably need an app of some sort. Any advice would be appriciated
  2. Hi, I am using Gsak version 7.6.2. I have memory map os edition 5. I was wondering if anyone knew how to get Lord Elphs Lovely Icons working. The normal instructions do not work any more as they are out of date. I would really appriciate any help William Banfield
  3. The brilliant Dr. Solly has already made his own geocaching robot. It is awsome, just wish i could work our the password for it
  4. I think I have found what I'm looking for. Asus eee pc 1001ha. 160gb hard drive, 1gb ram xp home. Right on my budget
  5. I know about dells. The acer was the first out of four dells. I will never buy one again.
  6. I have been out caching and seen another cacher coming in another direction. Did not think to stop and say anything though. How did i know they were cachers. They were on a small circular walk with gps's. One had a PDA in their hands whilst the others asking 'what's the clue'!
  7. When I was a basic member I could not find anything. I then became a premium member and could never look back now. Anyway. You can make a pocket query come as regularly as you want(maximum five times a day) published between two dates. Basically no. Just become a premium member
  8. Hi A while ago i bought a acer aspire one a110, 512mb ram & 8gb ssd. I have found that this is no good for me. There was not enough ram and the hard drive was way to small. Because of this i will be selling it. Does anyone have a good suggestion of what i should buy. i can spend a maximum of £200. It will need to be able to run Gsak, Memory map and possibly something that i can store my pictures on. It will need a big hard drive as i will have about 30gb of maps on it and all 30 available pocket queries. It also can not weigh more than 1.5kg as i will be carrying it around on all caching trips. Any ideas would really help. William.banfield
  9. Well he certainly doesn't have his own server for it Chris (MrB) I do have a server, but it is not the best one on the market
  10. I have been in the same situation. I mentioned it in the log for the cache and activated it. The next day the owner email me and asked for it back as he had forgotten to activate it. I would have sent it back, but i had released it far away. I therefor let him adopt it.
  11. thanks for your replies, butt they aren't really what i'm after. My idea is to create a something new and you never know, it may be the best. I know some of you may not agree with my idea, so feel free just to skip the thread.
  12. I have recently published a thread about getting involved with Geocaching. I love Geocaching, but do not have the time to go out and find Geocaches regularly at all. I have been advised by a moderator to do something to help with Geocaching in Britain. So, this is what i am attempting to do right now. Seeing as there are quite a few new cachers out there, i thought that it would be a good idea if we were to make something for them. My original idea was to produce a website that told them all about Geocaching. I know that there is already a Geocaching newsletter, but we could produce on just for new cachers. This would hopefully help them to know all about Geocaching in a very short time. I am sure that others would have over idea's as well. I would really like to start a group up so that we can make something useful. My only request though is that you live in Britain, as i am trying to aim this at Britain. This request is for everyone all over the world though. If we are going to produce a website, then we will require a server to host off. If there is no-one out there who has a spare/server with free space, then i am sure that we will find a way around it. If you feel that you would like to get involved, then please post something. It would be a lot easier though if you could email me directly on - williambanfield223@googlemail.com I hope that this will inspire others and i look forward to hearing your thoughts. Thank you for taking the time to read this post.
  13. I love Geocaching, but do not always have time to go out and find caches. I was wondering is i could get involved with helping out with caching. I have no idea what this could be, but i'm sure that there must be. I have a lot of technical skills, so could easily make a website. This could then be used for anything useful. You must be getting what i mean by now and i look forward to hearing any of your ideas. Thanks, William.Banfield
  14. Hi, I have a series of geocaches near me that are great. The thing is, it appears that the originall owner of them is not a geocacher any longer. A few of them have gone missing and need sorting. I would really like to sor then all out, but do not know who to contact. Any help would be appriciated
  15. Hi Everyone, A while ago i bought a netbook to take out Geocaching with me. It originally came with linux Linpus installed on it. I have managed to install Windows Xp professional on it as i hated Linux Linpus so much. The specs are: 512mb ram, 7 inch screen and an 8gb hard drive. I have bought a 16gb sd card for it though. Any way, i have come across a mager problem. It is incredibly slow. It takes for ever to turn on and off and takes ages to do just about anything. I don't care about how windows looks or any of the fancy things it can do. I was wondering if anyone out there new how i could get rid of all the junk that windows comes with. I dont just want to put it in classic mode, i then want to delete the windows xp theme. i would prefer not have the re-format the hide drive. All that it needs to do is connect to the internet, run gsak and view memory map. i do not need anything else. Any help at all would be appriciated.
  16. Just a quick question. When you find a multi cache, can you log it as more than one find? If you find two caches in a multi, can you then log it twice?
  17. Hi, near to me, we had a large shopping centre. It is all inside and the doors do get locked at night. I was wondering, could i put a cache out inside? Obviously you cold not use a gps, but i could upload a map and give a really good hint. It would not be large or like an ammo can, just a nano cache. I can't see any problem with this, as long as it is in a place that will not effect any of the surrounding. If you can't answer this question, then do you know someone i could email about my query? Thanks
  18. Hi, Does any one know how to install GSAK on linux. I have a netbook with linux on it and would like to use GSAK whilst out caching. If not, does any one no an alternative. I doesn't have to be a caching program, but i need to be able to search through all of the caches and be able to enter a GC code or cache name. If i need to make a file using windows, then that is fine. Also, does any one know how to install Memory Map on linux. If it is not possible, then what could i use to display my OS maps in? Thanks
  19. Hi Everyone, Just a quick question that i am sure everyone will be able to answer. I love putting Geocaches out as much as finding them. I do a lot of road side caches and some in woods. I am on a low budget. Does any one have any idea's for a realy good cache or disguise. Some pictures would be great. Thanks
  20. I know this is not related to geocaching in any way, but does anyone know how ti install ideneb on a dell latitude D520? This would really help me a lot. Also, will GSAK and Memroy Map run on Mac? Thanks William.Banfield
  21. Hi, Today i ordered my first travel bug. I was wondering if it was possible to get a tracking number and put this on an item? This way, you could make your own travel bug! Does any one think that this is possible. Thanks William.Banfield
