  1. I use a standard hard aluminum case when it's dry. But I use this when it's raining or I'm in an area where I could end up in the water. The AquaPaks are waterproof and can be carried around your neck. This is important since the cell phone makers are now putting that little water-detecting tab on the inside of the unit. If you send it for service and they see it changed color: "Not covered by warrantee - customer abuse." About $20. Check Ebay or Amazon for better prices.
  2. I don't like things on my back. I choose a "side carry" I recently got one of these Jumbo Versipacks by Maxpedition. Marketed for the Military/Law Enforcement this is easier to get into and has tons of storage and accessory options.
  3. I have noticed that my Cachemate (v 4.1.2) seems to be missing many logs that are in GSAK. When I export from GSAK I select "No limit" on the number of logs to export and "always include my logs" In some cases the logs stop 6 months back - or any variable time frame, in others they go properly all the way back to mid-2004 when I first started using the GSAK/CacheMate pair. I've tried both options in cachemate - merge records and not merge records - no difference. There are about 1800 records. The .pdb file database is on a 2GB SD card. This seems to be a new problem, but I can't think of any changes I've made. The logs used to be in the CacheMate records. Any ideas?
  4. hmmm...I'm looking at it at 6:30 EDT and it still has the generic logo, as does the waymark I added in it. Seems the move didn't automatically reset it.
  5. Our new Indiana Historic Marker category shows a little footprint inside a Waymarking "logo'. All of the other historic marker categories (when they were still subcategories) have the "hanging blue sign" icon. How can I switch to that? If not that..then something else. Thank you.

    Pq Problem?

Not so, Only new logs are complete. Hmm...the old incomplete logs in my PQs ARE now complete. I wonder what's different?
  7. Speaking of coinciences - I used that song and a photo of the Indiana State Line when I logged The Chameleon Cache Locationless on 12/24. Must have been a sign....
  8. Hmmm...Have you created your category and do you have a minimum of three officers? After that, the "progress box" with the 4 steps that tells you what step you're in should now have step#3 "call for officer vote on the category" highlighted. Click on it.
  9. If this is being discussed elsewhere -sorry, but I noticed my waymarks are all showing on their category pages that they haven't been visited yet. Even though they have and the visits are on the pages. An update bug?
  10. I don't see Indiana in the Waymarking.com list of Historic Markers. If no one else has proposed it, or if it hasn't been assigned to anyone, I would like to develop and manage the category. Indiana's marker program has gone through many stages, starting in 1915 to get ready for its 1916 Centennial Celebrations.

    Got A New Gpsr!

Here's your class - event if you can wait that long. GSAK 101 Event April 13th
  12. Just log your find as usual. Then open the page up again and log your visit again - this time as a "needs maintenance'" log.
  13. I have the PALM version of that receiver (identical) and tried it in the side pocket of my TEC hat. I left it out a little in the photo so you could get the idea, but it actually fit up inside just fine so I could zipper it shut. Available here: ScottEVest
  14. I have been using this unit for 18 months and USUALLY have no problems - when I hit mark it shows me 0' away - which makes sense. It's just sometimes it does the weird reading thing. Yup - all my settings are right and I have placed many caches with no complaints. But I'm afraid to place that one. I'll go back next week and try again.
  15. I have noticed this behavior before, but never as bad as yesterday. I'm at a spot in the open with an accuracy of 11' and 8 sats. I hit "mark". The screen to save my mark comes up and shows me 104' away from the mark. Repeated attempts produce the same results. I did get it down to say I was only 84'away. I shut the unit off, restarted and approached from different directions - same result. I'm afraid to use those coordinates for a cache..because I don't know how good they are. Anybody have an explanation? Thanks.

Read the second part of the below article about the Blue Line/Pogues Run art project - it was $65k..not $15k.. Indianapolis Art Projects

It didn't really...at least not as rumored here. It was mine. Read my cache description. About 2 weeks after I archived it, The City of Indianapolis announced they had hired an artist ($15,000?) to place a "Blue Line" made out of road-stripe tape over the exact path of the Pogues Run "Box". Since it will only last about 5 years, he is also placing 5" brass Benchmarks into the ground every few hundred feet. An "interesting" city art/history project. Pogues Run Challenge
  18. I can only dream of that number...way to go!! I hope you have as much fun on the next 1000
  19. You never forget your first.....and your Earthhomes was my first locationless back in August. Thanks and I'll see you on Waymarking.
  20. Thanks Rupert. #700 was actually a locationless - Steel Wheels (Right next to ISQ # 218). It would have been somewhere else..but I dnf'd it By the way, 59 of those 700 have been ISQ's - thanks!!
  21. I think a more telling statistic is the fact that he's set out 70 caches - that's what sets him apart. Congratulations..and thanks!!
  22. If there are any cachers in Japan who could team up with me to get Kakuda while I got Greenfield, Indiana (sister cities) let me know!!
