  1. Post #1 in this thread Now the current Help Center Article states I read this as stating they so far have taken 4 months to develop the as yet unfinished survey, after which they will start on the actual project.
  2. As "bones" would say "it's dead, Jim" Thought Bones said "He's dead, Jim." But that's what I'm suspecting. "It's dead, Jim." A lot of challenges were interesting. I've done "New Jersey Counties", and "New Jersey DeLorme", "Finds on caches hidden on 366 days of the year", "Cache names starting wit 0-9 and A-Z", "Noah's Ark" (26 pairs of cache names with animals; not sure that dolphins were ever on Noah's Ark...) But many have become quite inane. And I think that's the problem. "Caches in 200 contiguous counties in twenty states." "Thirteen of the fifteen most favorited caches in your state." So many are inane and obtuse. And that's the problem, as I see it. Well it has been five months since the moratorium. That is a long time to work on a project such as this.
  3. Nope It's grayed out. How ever I do have IE 11. It acts like it works but when you check the GPS it is nowhere to be found. In the past the communicator would say success. now it just flashes and nothing happens. Add "www.geocaching.com" to IE11's "Trusted Sites" by following Microsoft's instructions. I did it and instead of Communicator just going through the motions and not actually sending a file (nice touch, huh? ), now the file automagically gets sent. Follow these steps: a. Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type Internet Explorer, and then, in the list of results, click Internet Explorer. b. Click the Tools button, and then click Internet options. c. Click the Security tab. d. Now click on Trusted sites and then click on the sites button. e. Enter the Website URL www.geocaching.com and click on Add. f. When you are finished, click on Close. When I tried it I also de-selected the checkbox "Requite server verification (https:)". As mentioned, this may be only a temporary fix. If web browsers drop support for this kind of plugin, you will need to load GPX files manually. It's actually better to do it that way, since you'll likely need to remove old files at times, which the plugin won't do for you. And it's the same way you load an unzipped Pocket Query. This temp fix worked for me. I did have a problem at first as the trusted site entry was prefilled as https://www.geocaching.oom. It went through all the motions, but did not actually send the info. Once I changed that to http://geocaching.com everything worked fine. And a reminder, there is no reason to leave the cache page to get to IE. While in EDGE just click the ellipses (...) in the upper right corner of the page for more options. One of the options is to open the current page in IE.
  4. I would venture to say that is incorrect. The ultimate goal is to ensure viable geocaches.
  5. Is? No Could? Not likely Should? No
  6. Oddly, I've met more new geocachers overseas than at home in the states. Russians in Germany, Germans in Greece, Australians in Egypt, etc.
  7. Since I will more likely be using the Garmin 64 for geocaching rather than aerospace activities or trying to intercept the "geocache" on the ISS I assume the following to be true: WASS+EGNOS =on GPS + GLONASS = on It may or may not help but it will not hurt. How'm I doin' so far?
  8. There seem to be a couple knowledgeable people here. I am not one of them. To the OP question. Is are there any pros or cons to turning on the waas option in addition to glonass? Or is this answer really "it depends"?
  9. One person's "cool" is another person's "bull". One of the many reasons ALRs went away.
  10. The OP is free to rant, but he is wrong and the rants are fruitless. Somehow I feel he will not be convinced.
  11. But then it should be easy to add a new country to your stats!
  12. I remember hand typing coords into my blue etrex. 90% of the time I did not make a mistake.
  13. I too will continue to post DNFs as warranted. Did it just yesterday. I do not believe the sky is falling. If my DNF is the one that hreaks the camel's back then too bad.
  14. You have obviously not been on the internet very long. Many internet facts are based on one incident out of one occurrence.
  15. Hey, how did you get away with using the word "should"?
  16. ...but should also be disappointed when NOBODY gets it. Then it is time to add some hints. "Should" isn't the right word to use here. It's up to the cache owner to operate it as she/he sees fit. Are we not talking about our opinions of what we feel makes a good puzzle experience?
  17. ...but should also be disappointed when NOBODY gets it. Then it is time to add some hints.
  18. Cache Name: Monthly Meet & Greet Location: Bill's Deli Narrative: describe event Cache Name : Monthly Meet & Greet at Bill's Deli Location: Bill's Deli Narrative: Describe event Cache Name: Monthly Meet & Greet Location: Bill's Deli Narrative: Describe event and mention they have yummy sandwiches Only one of the above is good. YMMV
  19. Back to the original post: they have just now been unarchived by the reviewer. There remain proximity, commercial, and railroad issues with this series.
  20. It is just you. You are "apparently" jumping to an overstated conclusion regarding "most places".
