  1. i see nothing wrong with them as well I say just dont deface any grave markers on disturb any LIVING family members space and all is well i have found 2 in graveyards so far (only looked for 2)
  2. agreed, but it is still against the law, so why temp the powers?...lol
  3. all the advise they give is great, and will work well, but I wouldn't drill into any US coins as it is illegal unles the government has deemed them no longer acceptable for circulation
  4. looking at them all, I think I will get the Oregon 300 and then add road maps...I just wish it came with road maps...
  5. I have a Nuvi 200 for road maps in my work truck, (travel averywhere) I have a Magellan Meridian Gold for Gecaching in my jeep (and it is great for caching) but I also want anothr in my main truck bor both caching and road maps/turn by turn mainly geocaching, so I was thinking about the Dakota 20 and adding road maps to it, what do you guys think? I wanty a rugged water proof unit thwt has a digital compass display and is touch pad, that also allows for turn-by-turn
  6. I said Platinum I ment Basic... and it turned out the guy had made a mistake he had not used if for a while and it was a gift to him, it turned out to be a Gold unstead of a Basic
  7. lol, i would have missed this too, glad you help gaga55 i might have been in the same situation
  8. i jumped in to micros at the start, and found them rather easy to find, but i have always been pretty good at this kinda stuff, way before geocaching was born, and i found the GPSr i used was not very good at pointing me to the spot, as a matter of fact it told me to go about 35: in the wrong direction, so i bought a unit that was more suited to the trails, an older Meridian Gold, it is great!, things i had to log DNF before are easily found with this unit, almost down to the foot!, but the key for me is to look for something that seems to be out of place, or a good spot that I would hide a cache in, seems to work well for me
  9. i actually got it for $50 and it had the USB cable (bought from ebay) and it also had a carying case, BTW it happened to be the GOLD with 16 MB memory not the green (or basic) with 2 MB, i guess i got lucky, now gonna update the firmware and such...
  10. hey guys i am using a Nuvi 200 for caching, it works well, but battery life sucks and like many have said, it is not "rugged" or water proof so i am looking for a handheld, i can get a used Magellan Meridian Platnum for $60 and it has the cable for usb connectivity and a neat little carying case although it is older and i won't use it for road use as i have a Nuvi 200 for that i will be using it stricktly for Geocaching and camping, (I know it is only black and white) would it be worth the $60?
  11. i agree with that, it is unfortunate that there are morons in this world that vandalize, but it isn't a find if it isn't there to find...
  12. i disagree your first visit was NOT a DNF because you actually did find it you corrected the log afterward though
  13. i have the Nuvi 200 I was wondering if i could make a catagory that says Geocaching
  14. is there a way to make a catagory for Geocaching? like the "Points of Interest" or "Lodging" as it is when you want to see the waypoint you download (for caching) it goes to the "Favorites" my question is, is there a way to make a catagory that says "Geocaching"
  15. not yet, but i just started a day or so ago, on my first trip i did have a guy ask me what i was doing and told him i was Geocaching and told he what it was, he kinda looked at me like i was crazy
  16. the only thing i see is that it uses serial cable to update not USB although reviews on Amazon say it is a pretty acurrate unit the reason why i say that is, good luck finding a compter with old serial although you can buy the patch cable for it for around $30
  17. i agree it is a childs term, so i will not use it I will just sau "NON-GEOCACHER" i agree though it is too deeply embeded so no change seems likley
  18. exactly... but if i find a $20 i wouldnt mind it at all
  19. i would do it without a second thought, the residents don't care...they are dead but i also like to look at tombstones aswell bacause they are a reflection of our past such as junkyards are
