  1. i wanted to thank a member that has repaired a cache i own. i let premium lapse and message centre wont let me write a message so i presume its a premium member thing ?
  2. then can you use message centre/put notes on caches one owns etc, having issues on my page. thanks.
  3. Does there need to be a system in place for removal of crappy caches? After having done geocaching for some time and clocked up an average number of caches we are now aware of what makes a crappy cache and a quality cache. E.g. either a pill or mint container with a scrap of paper in a flax bush or pile of rocks marking no specific reason or place except that its just there, compared to a quality container or unusual container in a location of significance hidden in a challenging or easy to find place, well maintained and makes you happy to stop or visit it. Here is one idea for a system of user review and thus raising the standard of caches. Our idea is to have a voting box on every cache log accessible only to premium members who have logged a minimum of say 500 finds. The check box could be simply like logging a favourite but its allocating a crappy cache point. When a cache receives say 5-10 crappy votes then the reviewer has to archive the cache. This idea sprang to us because we are sick of stopping and fossicking for crappy caches. Very often crappy caches also attract litter and other human waste. They often feel unclean or unsafe and don't normally give you the feeling that you are glad you stopped here. Normally they give you the feeling of lets get out of here fast. We feel there should be a system where we can vote a cache off the site. What do you think? Guzzi Riders
  4. Thank you for you comment. Our cach "Old Cromwell Town" was bulldozed with a coin in it. The bulldozer driver helped us look for it but we could not find it so when we set up the cache again it showed the coin as resident. Have just logged it has missing thanks to your comment above. It was easy to do so. Left a note in the coins log to say what had happened.
  5. Yeah! Thank you so much. It worked. Just sent a previously created pocket query to the GPS. Found we had to move it into the right folder. We deleted about 120 caches first that we had loaded indiviually. Now we can read on the GPS the new loaded caches which we loaded in bulk using the pocket query. Much easier.
  6. Oh that sounds helpful. Thank you. So now we need to learn how to load pocket qeries. From reading the forum I have learned how to create them. Now I need to figure out how to load them or send the file to the GPS. Do you just do it using your computer from the email?
  7. The Geocaching site was down a fortnight ago. When it came back on line we decided we should load a few near us in case the site went down again. All the caches we loaded did not appear on the map on the GPS or the list on the GPS. Up to now we have not had any problems. When opening the folder with the computer they are all there in all in the GPX folder with the other caches that we had previously loaded prior to this date. Why can the Oregon not read these recently loaded caches? Has anyone else come across this problem or can anyone offer any advice. We brought the Oregon to enable us to do paperless caching. We have deleted the files and reloaded in case they were corrupt to no avail. what do we do?
  8. Thanks for that question. We were wondering the same thing. We had be creating a list of caches near somewhere then clicking on each arrow to download to GPS. Then write etc. I would be good if you could just tick all the ones you wanted and get it to download all the ticked caches in one go. But would that be too logical
