I have read quite a few articals here in the forums and think I understand how to do the paperless caching thing. Thanks for all the help from everyone on that issue. NEW QUESTION. I have read in a cuple of the articles that "it might" be possible to hook your PDA with the gps so you don't need a laptop puter with you when you go on vacation or whatever. Does anyone have any idea if this "could" happen or have any links to any info on doing it. NOTE: I curintlly do not have a palm, I just won one on ebay but have not gotten it. But it would be much appricated if anyone can tell me what will work or perhaps what dosn't work any help would be nice... Just for the record, I have a etrex Legend and I want to say my palm is a Sony Cipris (somthing like that) III (I think) Dont' know much about that thing yet.... But if it matters, I will find out and post on this Forum....

I don't care for micros, but who am I? I guess where I am at, there dosn't seem to be very many of em. I had a problem with a small cache that I placed. It was too close to the other cache across the road. 328' I decided to e-mail the owner of that cache and asked them if it would be alright if I was to move their cache a little further down the trail so I could hide mine. NO PROB. And as for the early discussion of CRAP CACHES, I hope that none of myne are "CRAP" Most of them are for an area for people to sit a spell, maybe a little lake with a public boat landing that isn't on any map. If this isn't right, let me know. And ONE MORE THING.... I want people to come to this area, if my crap cache is for the only reason, then so be it.

I am looking to get a computer. I only can get online when Im at work. well My home puter is a lender and for some reason I can't get on the net with it. So Im looking to buy a good used computer. I don't plan on doing to much with it maybe download some music from KAZAA for the MP3 and geocaching (along with paperless cacheing) Does anyone have any good ideas or am I going to just have to spring for a new one?

I had a prob. too with my girlfriend. I heard about geocacheing a long time ago. Well, when I wanted to buy a gpsr, SHE"S LIKE. THat thing is so dumb what would you ever do with that. The map software is like $100.00 and I know that you will want that too." Well, lol she gone now. Left her. I can't stand a girlfriend thats scared to get a tic or somthing. And the GPS, still got the same one. And NO MAP SOFFTWARE. Rely don't need it. Would like to have but true $100.00 lot o money to spend for somthing I realy cant see myself using that much. Wish list Item I guess. Anyway to get to your question, Does He sound interested in Geocaching. IF NOT BYE BYE!!!! Lol No thats my way..... I think it would be a great idea to hide it in the back yard. OH and can someone tell me how to get one of the Geocoins. I think I might like to buy some. And for the amount of $ I put into my addiction, Lets see, GAS, (Need to take out a small loan now for that) I usually get my trinkits from gargae sales and spring cleaning the parents house. (What a mess)... and the containers, which I have found cheaper ideas that seem to work great otherwise about 1.00 each.....

I would say "JUST ASK THE QUESTION" Tell us what you are planning on doing. Chances are slim that anyone from your area would happen to look at this forum, and if they do, well, its a good hint. But I don't think I have ever realy seen any body put somthing on a forum that gives IT away. Perhaps it would give anyone else that reads this partucular forum a New Idea. Plus you will get a positive feed back answere to your question.....

I guess I had a pritty good understanding of my GPS before I learned about geocaching. Got lucky I guess. Anyway, I don't speak on behalf of all geocachers, as a matter of fact, I have never met an other geocacher, but I do know that most geocachers realy don't like Micro's. Even a penutbutter jar or somthing is better then a micro. I say that the only time to use a micro is when your doing a puzzle or a multi. Just my thoughts. But I still will go and get a micro (I need the credit).

I don't know, I guess I would trash their entry. But who is it hurting? Not us (geocachers) the person wants to look like hes a great geocacher Let HIm. Maybe someday, when he realy want's to find some, he'll never know how many he actually found. LET THE DORKS BE DORKS. Give it some time, then TRASH.....

WOW! you talk about a lot of reading for this one. Seems to be a rough isue. My Question Is This: A guy gets arrested for Criminaly Tresspassing? I have been a Police Officer for 4 years now in two different states (not real long but fresh), I understand that there is somthing called "MENTAL STATES" Them two words mean how bad a crime is. I don't believe that a person would get that much crap for Tresspassing. Here in Wis. Tresspassing is this: A person commits Tresspassing if he/she (here is that mental state) "KNOWINGLY" enters an others property without that persons consent. IF THE "BOX WAS CHECKED," Then how could a Judge prosicute that when the geocacher BELIEVES he does have permision to walk on that persons land?
Any way, I have never found a cache on PERSONAL PROP. I will say that I have taken on a cache from the inproper angle and have Tresspassed a little. (Cross a back yard or somthing), But for the most part, I have the utmost respect for the hobby, along with most people that I have talked to (nongeocachers). Where I come from, most people don't get all flustered about the PRIVAT PROP. Unless its Deer Season! I would say as long as there are public traffic allowed, no prob. I wouldn't be walking pass "NO TRESS." signs to place one and wouldn't be jumping over fences. I havn't been to too many caches (I believe im on 75 or so, with 12 hides) but like I said, never once have I felt that I was on property where I shouldn't belong, EXCEPT the wrong angles (spelling) prob. And Most people IF THEY SAW ME, never realy cared. They seemed to be more interested in what I was doing and wanted to hear the whole story.....

Im not sure if anyone will ever read this entry of myne. Being it is at the bottom of the pile. But anyway, I am a Law Enforcment Person, and must state that yes, it would be considered defacment of public prop. But there is a nice little loop hole, you can request to place a small tag or sticker on the bottom of the post as long as it is oked by the city officials. CITY BOARD, LAW ENFORCMENT, ETC..... Most of the time I have delt with them, they never had a problem AS LONG AS IT DIDN"T STAND OUT AND LOOKED OFFICIAL.... Hope that will help with your question. As long as its just the cords, an "everyday person" would expect somthing like that on posts. So they would not get the inclination that you were alowed to place stickers on signs. Make sure it is on a city Street sign tho and not a State hwy. dep. sign. They are a little more stricked.

Wow! I didn't think people would be that upset, I was kind of in a hurry when I posted that above entry and didn't think spelling was a big thing. COULD YOU READ IT? Just a quick question and am very sorry for all your troble of reading crap spelling. I HOPE I DON"T OFFEND YOU AGAIN! I type a little to quick and most of the time don't relize that I had a messup..... THE main question is, WHERE DO I GET THE ICON? WHATS THE WEB SITE?

OK, I got the asnwere to how to change the "Tadpole" now I just want to know where I can get a cool icon there. I see some pritty cool ones and wanted one like that. Is there a place on the net? Or do I have to scan one into the puter? I don't like looking at me every time Im in the forums. I MEAN, HAY LOOK AT THAT GOOD LOOKING GUY! But you know what I mean. I only can look at me a little bit. And how do I get it on my contoles? (Don't give me too much crap, it was a bad hair day that day) I STILL LIKE WHAT I SEE!lol

Compas.... I use a compas when I get close and cant find it. I walk to an area I get good Sats. and look at distace and degrees. Then I pick up the compas and dile in to that degree then look at distance and whatever seems to be at that spot, Well that's usually where its at. Unless the cords are off. Then "WHERE WOULD I PUT ONE?"

I have similar prob. with my LEGEND. I read a while back ago that tree cover and internal antena's don't mix too good. Etrex's are great GPS's but with the internal antena not the greatesed for wood's use. If you are going to upgrade, go with a Gps that has an antena (the actual antena on the top, not the chip inside). But if you don't feel like upgrading, keep using your Etrex, Believe me, you will eventually get used to it and be able to find them pritty much as fast as someone with a different moddle..... But I hope that answeres your question.....

OK, I just got a new PDA off ebay and need to know the steps for getting information on the thing. Can someone tell a mor-on how to do this. I do know that you have to be a paying member, which I will be very soon. But from There? Where do I need to go? What are the new PDA's cabable of? I have never even held one. This is a first for me along with the paperless caching but if it has anything to do with GEOCACHING, IM INTERESTED.......

I hope that I have came up with a new type of multi. Im sure someone else has perhaps came up with somthing simmilar but just bare with me and make me feel good by COMMING UP WITH THE NEW ONE. I want to start with cords to the first 35mm can which has 3 choises A, B, or C (now lets just say that the key to this cache is the HINT "Who made the song Dancing Quien?" The Answere "ABBA" So if you chose the cords listed under A, it would bring you to the next PROPER CACHE. then you get the next set of letters. A, B, or C. Which the answere would be B.... Being B is the second letter in ABBA. I hope you get what I am saying. Does this sound interesting to anyone? Please give me feedback...... Ask questions and maybee even give me distinces.

I am suposed to be good with computers! yea right. I see everyone has different little pics by there entry on this web site. LOOK TO THE LEFT TO SEE ME. THATS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT. Its a crap pic of me. How do I find and put a little pic or sticker looking thing in that area and how do I get the word "TADPOLE" out of there and somthing else like "COOL GUY" in there. I see other people have geocacher or somthing!! I hate seeing that under my pic????

I tried to put out a geocache which was deniet for simple reasons. Anyway, Under My Geocaches, I have it in bright red with a line throw it. I have attempted to move the cach and I keep getting the same old message. YOU ARE ATTEMPTING TO MOVE TO AN AREA TO FAR FROM ORIGINAL CORDS. What do I do. How do I just delete it from the main-fram? any ideas?
