  1. Hello Everyone, So life got in the way of caching for a while. I was planning on getting back into the fun and pulled out my Garmin 60Cx and the older Legend Cx. Sadly I was dumb and left batteries in both of them. Both exploded. Haven't gotten around to taken the Legend apart to try and fix, it but its dead right now. I managed to take apart the 60Cx, cleaned it and got it up and running again, but the SD card slot is most likely beyond repair. So if anyone has a broken 60Cx or knows of a place to get a new main board, please let me know. I'm sure its probably cheaper and easier to just replace it and sell this one "as is" but its worth looking into first. Love Caching with topo maps. Thanks for any help. Now to try and fix the Legend.
  2. My friends came into town today from Las Vegas to go to Downtown Disney to do some shopping. They were very mad when the area was closed off. They got mad at me when I told them what the "problem" actually was and that I would have probably looked for it when I met them for lunch. Funny the way the world works.
  3. I see there are mixed feelings with regards to dipping. I have a question for those who are in favor of the practice. If I were to start "dipping" a TB that I bought and want to bring with me to track my miles, would it be bad practice to go back and "dip" in my past finds on the dates that i signed the logs? I really just want to track my miles as a cacher...if there is a better way to do this, I'm all ears.
  4. Sounds like a very interesting idea. Hope all goes well with it.
  5. So I should start by saying that I have a small token of appreciation I'm working on for a group of people in Austin TX. I don't personally know them, but I love all the content they put on the internet. <unauthorized link removed by moderator> I was thinking it would be fun to attach the token to a tb and sending it out. What do you guys think? I know it will take a while, but would it be better to find a local cacher in Austin to make put up a cache near their office and try and get them to find it? Or just try and get a nice cacher to drop it off at their office when it makes it to Austin? Thoughts?
  6. Looks to be a pretty good deal for that unit..Thanks for pointing that out!
  7. You should have an email and request. I got your email today, sadly I had a tire blow out on my car today and will need to wait about 2 weeks before I get my new units. I will contact you if its still available then. Sorry for the trouble...stupid cheap tires.
  8. I'm interested in buying, I sent you a message.
  9. I emailed you about this, hope to hear back form you soon.
  10. I just got into caching a few weeks ago. I bought a Garmin GPS III off eBay. Love the unit, works great. I just got a newer GPS unit and have no need for two. The GPS III is for sale. Its probably about 10 years old in total, but is in great shape. Has a small scratch on the screen and some minor signs of use. For its age its in great shape. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=72#gpsIII I have the Unit, Car Power Cable, PDF Manual, USB to Serial cable. The USB cable works great with EasyGPS for updating the unit with cache .loc files from the website. Took a few tries to get it all working right, so if you have any issues I can do my best to help. I'm want to offer it to someone on here before I put it on eBay. So if your interested please let me know. I'm looking for about $75 for all of it. Flexible on price so please make an offer. I can send some pictures if you are interested. The thing goes through 4 AA batteries in about 8 hours of use. Less if you use the back light. Recommend rechargeable, but the car charger helps a lot. Let me know Happy Caching.
  11. New to the game also, My roommate bought an Etrex and it works great with the Send to GPS feature. I just ordered an old Garmin GPS III. Anyone know of a list of which gps units from Garmin work with the Send to feature? I need to get the serial cable for it, and probably a usb adapter too first off, but just curious what the chances of success are with the feature working, or if Ill have to use one of the other programs. I searched the forums and came up short with answers. If I have missed anything can someone point me in the right direction?
