  1. I have yet to find one cache (excluding micros and virtuals) so I am not sure where I stand in all of this. I agree it would be nice if everyone respected this hobby and placed something better in the cache then they took out. Realistically there would be a stopping point if everyone traded up. I also think it is a matter of opinion on what is treasure and what is junk. Some stuff mentioned would be ovious junk. That stuff should be ledt out of the caches(bottle caps, sunflower seeds, cig buts...ect). However who is to say the dice or pez dispensers is not a prize? Or even a polished rock. There are many unique and different people and we all have different tastes. I don't go geocaching to raid the cache of the treasure of my choice only to swap with a nicer one. I go to FIND(someday) the cache and read the history(stories) related to the log. I always take stuff with me to trade and have various hobbies such as stained glass and making jewelry and I will leave things that I make in there from time to time but it's not the kill it's the hunt.

My sig item will be a stained glass piece when the design is complete and my cache will have alot of those in it but I wouldn't mind finding silly stuff in there. When I was in high school I had 14 rats and they stayed in a cage in my room. I kept them loose as long as they continued to use the bathroom in the cage and not my room(they were trained). One thing they took to doing was they would take dogfood out of the dog's bowl and replace it with pennys and what not. I would often place random items around the room to see what they felt was worthy of a trade. I knew there wasn't going to be anything ever of any worth in the dogs bowl but it was always fun to go and check to see what was left.

  2. These are what I am referring to.

N 37° 42.843 W 097° 25.279 I just wondered if there was a way to break that line down and what it all ment. But I guess it's just a line that pinpoints where the two lines come together.

And how do you get the degrees sign on the keyboard???

  3. Is it possible to download more then one waypoint at a time? I only seem to be able to do one at a time. Do I need another version or something special? Also if I get expert easygps will I get the topo's? Will S.c park show the water and park area? Just needed some advice on what to do.

I am not sure how much it cost. Wouldn't mind buying it but like tangable cd's vs a download.

  4. ok, I set mine up to what you specified however this part I was a little confused on.

" COG - other directional-related fields than this use the electronic compass and draw more power"

I looked it up and found that COG = Course over ground. I set my meridian to True North is this what I need to do for COG I couldn't find where I could select this.

TotemLake Yeah that scares me a bit. I hope I do everything correct. I did update my firmware to 5.12 and all seems to be working fine. I am just really excited to find my first cache using my gps and this really is a challenge.

  5. I am using a Meridian Color- I just needed to know how detailed this should be on my GPS mainly to see if I have it installed right plus some things that I feel would be visible on my map are not. Some is the cowskin creek, Augusta lake, S.C park water...ect.

  6. I have a few questions on what to expect from this software(detail level) For example on my gps(meridian color) I don't see the Cow skin creek which I thought would be on here. The augusta lake is not showing as well. Which is a decent sized lake. Not sure why and just needed some advice.

  7. I was trying to upload maps/regions to my gps and it said that if I used this it would only take minutes instead of an hour. Also if I am using a Magellan Meridian Color, what program should I use to download waypoints from the cache page? I am sure I have more questions or will have the more I mess with this critter.
