  1. Geocaching is supposed to be a family-friendly game. The behavior by both these individuals contradicts that. I think geocachers should periodically re-visit the Help Center (https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php) or review the terms of use (https://www.geocaching.com/account/documents/termsofuse).
  2. Yes, lack of cache owner maintenance is certainly one of my frustrations too. No one likes to find broken/rusted/cracked containers with wet & soggy items in them. (Yuck!) Sadly, there are cache owners out there that aren't very conscientious about maintenance and it's really a detriment to the game. I also have to agree that if people can't maintain what they place, the best thing to do is archive them or adopt them out.
  3. It seems like there are cache-haters everywhere. They go out of their way to disrupt geocaching. You would think these people would make better use of their time than to vandalize/steal a cache. I don't think it has ever occurred to these people how much it's costing them in time, money, and energy to find and then, dispose/vandalize a cache, not to mention the legal consequences that may result.
  4. I don't know why people put food items in caches. Maybe they didn't have anything else to trade. Anyway, I found a couple of caches with candy in it and it was melted all over the inside of the cache. (Yuck!) Food items/candy are just a bad idea. It attracts ants, insects, and animals. That goes for scented items too.
  5. These are my irks. Some of which are the same as others who have already posted to this thread. Garbage in caches/inappropriate items - rocks, bottle caps, food items Cache owners not maintaining their caches despite several DNF's and/or a maintenance flag. Container size/terrain rating inaccurate. Then, cache owner not even updating cache page after a finder let's owner know. Poor cache placements — 20 feet in front of a busy store entrance, on a busy road where there's no sidewalk, right next to someone's residence (despite it "technically" being on public property) Missing/stolen geocoins Useless hints People who take a swag item and leave nothing. People who stop caching/move out of the area and don’t adopt out their caches or archive them. The caches usually end of deteriorating to the point where someone eventually flags a “needs archived”. Cache owners placing regular/large size caches and put 2 small swag items - Kind of pointless. May as place a small cache instead. People who cheat - Logging as found when a find was not made, asking for puzzle solutions, etc.
