Just a comment about my screen shot. On the navigation screen, it shows the accuracy as .10 mi. That is only because I was sitting on my butt on the first floor of my 2 story house! When you're walking it goes to 156ft and then 56ft, which is the most accurate I've had it show. It's been pretty accurate so far. The compass is useless unless you're moving at a pretty steady pace in one direction, but the cords work great. If you want any other scree shots just let me know.

It is a phone, the iPhone actually. The accuracy absolutely increases. I took that screen shot about 2 sec after I opened up the navigation screen and I was sitting next to my computer on the first floor of my 2 story house. When you first go to that screen it starts at 1.4 mi accuracy. As you walk and it gets a better reading on you, it decreases to 56 ft. That is the best accuracy I have seen on it. I only have 19 finds as of yet, but of those 19, I'd say a 10 of them have been within a 5' rad, one of them I was standing directly on! The other's were no more than 15' radius. It does get bounce just like all the other GPS in heavily wood areas. I haven't had one DNF yet so, well see how it goes. Like I said, the only thing I believe to be a downfall is the compass. You have to be moving at a good pace for it to be accurate. Once you get to creaping speed it can't get a accurate bearing on your direction, however the cords still work. A simple pocket compass will take care of my only gripe. I'm getting better using it ever time . . .

So, my wife hooked it up! The best shock & water resistant case on the market, and an awesome handlebar mount. I can't wait to test it out! I'll absolutely get on here and let you know how I make out with it! Not only am I going to be using it for my Geocaching App, but also for the Trailguru App. It tracks my course, speed (avg & max), distance traveled, time (stopped & moving), alititude, and lets me post it on their free site right from the palm of my hand! I love my iPhone also. As stated above, you are confusing the old iPhone with the 3g iPhone, the 3g iPhone uses satalite GPS - not the cell towers. I have been extremely happy with my 3g and I could honestly write a 1000 reason why I love it . . but I won't go that crazy. I will say that for caching it has been great. I recently just got into the sport and that is only because of the iPhone app ($2.99). I have never done it with out my iPhone, but I did run into a fellow cacher one day back in the woods and he had a Garmin Nuvi. I understand that he could load your way points onto it, but he still had carry around the printed out details on the cache and also had to keep refreshing his location. He was blown away at the Geocaching App. The fact that I can look at the description, recent logs, hint, and navigate using the gps cords and a gps guided compass (only lame part about it) - without even leaving the app! Then if I have the service (which in my location, is always the case) I log my find right right then and there! Check out my screen captures If this all impresses you, wait till you browse the 15,000 apps with an average price of said $3.13!!! I think you need to find out what service is the good for your area. After all, no matter what the phone can do for you, it won't do squat with out service!

I have been using my iPhone to cache for the past week. I am new to this game and have really enjoyed it! If I didn't have the phone I probably would have never gotten into this. It can get a little frustrating looking at the compass and walking 50' circle and it never changes. I wish they could always make the top of the phone the lead direction. I feel that it needs to log you moving a while before it tells you your bearing. I have logged 9 caches so far and am totally hooked now. I'm going to borrow one of my boss's handheld GPS jobbers so I can see just how accurate this thing really is. All in all I'm also blown away by all the capabilities of this phone. This is probably my 2nd favorite app, only comming 2nd to Shazam. Nothing beats hearing a song and you just have to know who it is. Touch the screen - it listen's and then tells you - Simply amazing!
