Hallowe'en ???
Another complete guess based on the charms being to ward off evil spirits, the fact Hallowe'en is mostly an American thing and a lot of Americans think they're Irish
That is a ding for Hallowe'en as the correct answer, although I would have accepted 'all soul's', 'harvest' or 'Samhain' as alternatives, for obvious reasons. Also, in some parts of the North it was known as Nut Crack Night because of another tradition of throwing nuts on the fire for fortune-telling/seeing in the future.
(I have a new cook book full of all kinds of wonderful information.)
I digress....Over to you MTH!

Sandringham estate is owned by the crown, isn't it?

Barm brack, the fruity Irish tea bread sometimes containing wrapped charms, is traditionally baked for which 'festival'/ 'holiday'?

Zanzibar?
Some of my cousins were born in Tanganyika, or spent early childhood there. :-)

For JoLuc's question, I think it's somewhere tropical. Let's try off the coast of Rio.
Not close. It's quite some way East. In fact it's quite some way West too.
Fabulous potatoes!
It's off the west coast of Ireland?

We know what the theme is...but as were out and about can't guess just yet.
Great question!

Mr F and daughter say it was Blue (or possibly that was year before...and Jedward was Ireland's entry).
oh,Mr.F. here... does that mean that I have to ask the next question? What about,
I always associate the song 'Red Red Wine' with UB40. But, who wrote it?

Was it Jedward? All I know is, it will be this year... (and my Eurovision-fanatic friend dressed up as a 'Blue nun from Germany' last year! )

I think the clues will help a good deal now - and not are not too obvious. (I wouldn't have got it before, I don't think.)

What a great idea for an event! I'm another one who would love to attend if it were closer. So come on, are there any more out there who knows their trees & who want to run an event like this? There are a good number of arboretums in our neck of the woods (and there's woods, too! )

So this time I read the instructions further down the page and installed Tampermonkey and as if by magic, there it is! Weyhay!
Thank you!

When I tried to install it, I got a warning triangle with the message "attempted to downgrade installation!" ...

Today I just made a new geocaching address, added it to my geocaching account, verified the new address, made it my main email and then deleted the old address from use on this site. So you can change the email you have registered here, I just did! :-)

Is there a way to get the OS maps back in Chrome (since GS changed from Google maps)? I'm not technically minded so sorry if I've missed something obvious!

Found little glass bottles of cheap purfume now and again. Mr F was complaining that one of them ended up in his briefcase and then broke and is stinking out his case (and car). So now I just throw them away. (Also found a glass stink bomb but not sure if that was a comment on the cache rather than swag!)

8. All the above.
I like this one. I really don't care how people "team" cache. As long as the group is having fun.
Exactly. We often make a note in the online log to say which of the team were there and which found it, but we each gave up trying to record our personal find count some time ago.

Found another favourite in the bottom of a bag yesterday - a fine liner Sharpie. Seems to write on anything.

Just to say Hello to all, am reading information on geocaching to find out what its all about. Went out yesterday and found my first Cache. I am up in Catterick, North Yorkshire.
Many Thanks

Hey up, how do? Welcome and congrats on your first find.
Nice to see you here...There is also a UK And Ireland forum section (at the bottom of the list of regional forums on the forum home page).

But who was the instigator? Meaning: When it comes to couples, whose idea was it to start geocaching? I, the female half, started our geocaching adventure. In fact, most of our outings are organized by me.
Same here. When it comes to getting muddy, that's me too. Spent a lot of time this week grooming and mucking out horses and getting stuck in muddy fields just for the fun of it. A lot more females than males do this here.

I am female and I am petite. Since the age of about 25 I have been a (UK) size 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and am now back down to about a size 10! Sorry, couldn't resist!
There was another thread asking a similar question and it was surprising how many more female cachers there are than most of us expected. I'm sure someone will ferret it out for you soon.

I like a Uni pin fine line drawing pen, or similar, in permanent black but usually have to settle for whatever I've got in the car/coat pocket.

But any of us could put the right answer now without Googling!
So...I guess NattyBooshka can ccept The Patrician's answer, or set another question.
