Gentleman, well I've found exactly what you all said in the manual. 200 waypoints with messages indeed. Don't know how I missed it but I did. I verified what Team Flushingrouse said and indeed I get the same MESSGAE SECTION FULL message. What a bummer. I clicked the support link that Roberlipe provided and I moaned abit. MAYBE that will help. I thought the whole reason for a memory slot was to be able to increase all available memory not just the maps portion! arrrgh! I'm bummed but at least I can work with an understanding of what's going on now. Clyde: Sorry to clog up the forum with an issue that had nothing to do with your program at all. BUT I AM GRATEFUL FOR THE HELP AND ANSWERS PROVIDED BY EVERYONE. Sincere thanks to all! Kickthefog

Clyde and everybody: Ok I just read the entire waypoint section and looked through the rest of the manual. They mention the 500 total waypoint limit about 10 times but no mention of any other limitation. Of course i know that doesn't necessarily mean there isn't one. Anybody got any more info on this? Clyde, Thanks for the response. Sorry I forgot to mention model. It is a Magellan Merdian Color. I'll check the manual. I honestly didn't even check it since I know it will hold 500 waypoints so I stopped there knowing I wasn't exceeding that. Thanks!

Clyde, I've noticed that when uploading a 50 waypoint GPX file, it works fine. I get the waypoint name and identifiers and whatever else I specify in the "SEND WAYPOINTS TO GPS" window. However, When I upoad say 300+ waypoints in one shot the exact same way, Not everything trasnfers over. Some waypoints have names and no identifiers, some have just identifiers, some have both, some have neither. I have lots of free memory left over even after I've transfered 375 waypoints but the problem remains. I've tried all the different combinations of %name %code %by, etc. in each the name and descriptions feilds but no dice. same behavior Any idea how to fix this? Thanks!!! Embra, I stumbled across the GSAK program probably while you were typing this to me. It is AWESOME! It does exactly, well not exactly what i want but it is exellent and i am very happy. Thanks very much for the responses.... all of you!! It is sincerely appreciated!

Thanks guys for the info! I tried GPXSPINNER on your suggestion. Although i can see that it is a very cool tool( i especially like the HTML output) I still don't understand how to use different on-board icons in my GPS. I notice the help files said to use another program to alter the icon usage on the way to palm pilot, but I don't see how to do it on the way to the merdian. I actually wouldn't mind using the default icon for caches and say the stadium icon or the ATM$ icon for a found cache. That would be fine with me but I'm sorry, I don't see how to do that at all. I read all the helps and FAQ's. Can you shed a bit more light on it for a dummy like me? Cherokee: I LOVE the FAQ file. Thats a great find! Thanks. Although all the files that are mentioned to alter the unit (and there are a ton of COOL ones) all work with old firmwares like 3.x and 4.x firmwares. I'm running 5.12 firmware and I tried them anyway and they didn't like my version. They give an error firmware version inorrect or can't be found. I'm not sure I should go backwards in firmware ya know? Thanks again very much.

Hi everybody. I am a new geocacher and as of today a paid member of geocaching.com. I have a pocket query sent to me in .gpx format that I download into my Magellan Meridian Color via EASY GPS and I also transfer them into my IPAQ Pocket PC. It's a great combo! anyway... Here's my problem. My Merdian only has the standard waypoint icons that came with my topo streets program. It does not have the geocache icons. In EASYGPS it shows a different icon for my FOUND and NOTFOUND caches. This is exactly what I want to see in my GPS but my GPS just gives everything the DEFAULT icon. I know I can change them all manually, but there must be a way to load the GPS icons that are used in EASYGPS to my Meridian so my GPS shows icons the same way EASYGPS does. I just don't know how.
