  1. Oh sorry it is Hei Matau which is in Holland. Couldn't figure out how to edit last post.[]
  2. I have a problem where one of my TBs went missing for over a year and a half and several emails to the last catcher to have it went unanswered. I didn't log it as missing (hoping it would turn up ) but released a Copy of it. The copy went off overseas and amazingly in the last month,2 years after the originals disappearance it resurfaced. Now I have a TB called Pikorua in Belgium as well as one in Texas. Sooo ... what do I do.I am still waiting for a reply from the Texan catcher to see if he wants to keep it,so pulling one of the TBs out of circulation.I want to keep the one in Belgium to stay in circulation.
  3. Oh so true regarding the Held Hostage comment. I had to repeatedly ask a cacher to drop one of my TBs off.He had it for yonks and I thought he was never going to release it.
  4. However, I have seen this practice go overboard. A person will pick up a Traveller, and log it through all of the caches they find for weeks (months?). If a Traveller has a specific goal (such as visit another country), this practice does nothing to meet that goal (unless it is to visit as many caches as possible) while it is in that person's hands (it's sort of being held hostage). I'd rather see my Traveller get picked up and moved and left in as many caches, increasing the odds someone will be able to actually help it meet its goal.
  5. Have I missed something somewhere. I have a travel bug which disappeared in America a 18 months ago. I decided to release a copy so changed the pic on its page to show a copy was going to be released. I then receive 3 logs saying it had been "Discovered" I thought this meant that you had to have actually seen it in a physical cache but decided to leave it there. The person logging mine said they could read the number on the TB in the gallery so they had 'discovered it. Weird !! Also is it right to travel around with a TB and log it as having been to numerous caches before it is actually placed in a cache? I note that these practises seem localised to specific countries. Aren't we all on the same page ??!!
  6. Thanks skams I am going to try gdak since it is similar to gsak, I'm familiar with that.
  7. Great ... thanks guys, this looks good.[]
  8. Thanks for that. I only want to use the tablet to view cache data. Unfortuneately I deleted my gsak database in favour of the easier 'easygps' system. Still learning the android system also.Interested in anymore suggestions.

    gps

I am using 'easygps' on my laptop to transfer gpx files to my Oregon 300. I now have a Vigo tablet and would like to know the best app to use on it to do the same on the tablet. Easygps app site has several choices but none obviously for geocaching files.Running Android 4.
  10. I know just how you feel I have a TB, one of a set of 4, being held and no reply from the person holding it although they are actively caching. Most frustrating. can these people be boycotted or something
  11. Yes I too am having a problem with a geocacher who appears to have my travel bug, wont reply to my nice (up til now) requests to move it on and has held it for a year. They are still actively caching so I can only presume that they have stolen it. 'imallright' is the person, glad they are cos I'm flammin' annoyed about it. as it is one of a set of 4 I would like to see them all travel not have one die annonymously.
  12. The difference in our case is that the cacher has been carrying our geocoin around for 8 months. I agree that people should try to get them back out into the wild in a timely fashion, at times in your life other things may come up...winter can dampen your caching habits, health problems, family issues. This paticular person (for us) has been taking the geocoin on all kinds of caching trips, they just don't drop it I would agree that you should get some more travelors out there, the more you have the odds are better to get some good logs from some of them. We have over 150 TB's/geocoins out there, lots go missing but then again they will show back up again when you least expect it! I have written a note to the cacher involved with our coin, we'll see what happens.
  13. Please try and inform new cachers and perhaps remind older cachers on the etiquette regarding the taking of Bugs. I have two bugs in Australia and thought they were missing. When I checked their page I find the cachers who have them are taking them "visiting" caches. Although they are logged I do not get notification probably because they are not actually "dropped" into a cache. These are held in possession for months at a time. The idea of Travelling is to move on surely.? I did notify one of the cachers who eventually placed the Bug in a cache. See TB TB32VEV OR TB3E3EB Also how long should we wait if a TB in a foreign country ceases to move do we mark it as missing? I have translated a note and logged it into the last cache the TB was seen in to try and get a reply if the TB is still there. worked once ! *Tracking number removed by moderator*
  14. Thanks NFA. email is ok. Will check isp and spam filters next.

    emails

I have just stopped receiving emails notifying me when one of my caches or TBs are logged. Why is this? I haven't tossed them into my Junkmail folder. The emails stopped last month but I see some of my caches/TBs have been logged during this month but I'm not notified.
  16. Yes me too. I'm trying to figure out my new Oregon 300 and was begining to think I must be a bit thick.
  17. Can I change my user name with out loosing all the caches I have found under the name I started using.
  18. Thanks for your reply. I'm getting the hang of this more now.
  19. I am new to this and enjoying it but am wondering why I seem to be the only person who has "view/ edit log/images/ : come up when I log a find. everyone else just has "edit log " on their comments. Can I get rid of this and have my log look like everyone elses.
