I just got an email from a friend with a link to a site that lists haunted areas Shawdowlands . Now I notice here in Massachusetts there are a couple of cache sites that are listed as haunted (train tunnel in Clinton , state hospital in Northampton) . There have been threads like this in the past but here's what I'm suggesting / looking for : cache sites that are on that list (it's a big list ) and maybe to give people ideas for future cache sites . Look through the list do some research and see what comes up , I bet that we can come up with quite a few caches that are in or very close to these places . Enjoy !!

Wel Redthorn , always carry a big stick , a knife and some duct (100 mile an hour) tape (see if you can figure what you can do with those 3 items ). Also that last cache site that you just did always has wild animals , everytime I've driven through I seen something that I would not normally see .

Can you elaborate some on this for everyone or maybe post a pic might help somemore . You might want to include name of the town the type of structure and any other information that might be helpful .

That software works for colored GPSr but mine is a B/W GPSMAP 60 so will this work on mine ? I don't want to load any software and screw it up so I can't use it .

Ok how do you create/get custom waypoints for your gps ? I own a GPSMAP 60 and would like to add my own symbols for my caches and benchmarks . I looked at Garmins page but didn't see anything on the downloads area so I'm assuming that there's a program or some method that I don't know about that can do this . Also since I'm talking about upgrades has anyone had problems with this (GPSMAP 60) ? I haven't but there are upgrades on Garmins page about some problems (which I haven't had yet) .

If you are having problems with your usb interface you need to get the streets upgrade to use this ($20) . I had this problem with my GPSMAP 60 and couldn't figure out why , tech told me that this upgrade (which also gives you updated streets for the topo) is the answer , they were right no problems anymore . I will post later with the exact name of the product . NG Streets and 3D view
Edit : added name and link

This was a cache that I did that clearly states where it is , have a read . I thought it was a little unusual but I was new at the time . Thinking about it now it was just an ok cache the getting to was the only unusual part , through the center of town down a side road to the corner of a rock wall into the bushes . Did it during a concert on the commons so it was a little nerve racking that someone would see me so that what made it a challenge . I don't know if I would do another , I guess I would investigate before I would try .

ok where do I find owner id # and how do I get the counts section to show the caches I placed ?

I've tried Delorme (I just un installed it ) and I use NG TOPO (been using it for years ) and it is far surperior to anything else I have used , it even has a pocket pc version to use and it can be used with GSAK .

Well for me anything over 2-3 miles is a good long hike 3 + is a significant . I have a cache that is about 2 in and 2 out (GCMTG3) . I do warn people that this is only for the hardy because of the distance .

Here is a cache that just came online this weekend GHRR that is a mystery unless you know the area .
-
People told me the hints I provided for this cache brimfield tranquilitywere worthless but I wouldn't have provided them unless they were necessary . So to put a hint in it should be for the express purpose of helping you find the cache not for a tease .

I like to challenge and be challenged a little , so when I go to set up a cache I try to think of a way that I would enjoy finding but is not impossible either . I usually pick an area that might be nice to explore or just a nice walk . I'm currently looking at 6 more areas and trying to think of a good way to set up a interesting caches in each (probably multis for most) . I like to see a little thought put into the cache .

I had one cache that took me 3 or 4 tries in the afternoon or early evening on my way home and I couldn't find it till it had fallen off its perch into the snow . I had another that I went looking for and on the second try couldn't find the second piece, later found out it went missing along with the final . You will always come across these hard to find regardless so just try try again till you don't feel like looking or team up with someone (cacher or noncacher) to have another set of eyes .

I've been using NG for years and it is far superior to anything else but garmin units can't use it . I've used Delorme , Mapsource and NG , NG wins hands down . NG uses real topos unlike the rest who use a program that draws all the roads , contour lines and rivers . It looks so cartoonish to me and the detail isn't there .
I would highly recomend the NG .

If you have a sign shop nearby you could ask for a couple of pieces of scrap aluminum .040 it comes in different colors but they use mostly white or bronze .
-
Look on page 31 - 34 of your manual . This where it tells you how to enter , edit , delete waypoints . I don't own a magellan I use Garmin (very easy to use) .

try here

I have 2 multi's that do that and it's because I want people to end back near where they parked . I did a couple of multi's that end up a bit away from where I parked and now I have to turn around to get back , so I figure I'll get people to get to a point and then do a semi backtrack (get them back closer to their vehicles). #1
