  1. If i let my 15 year old go out and find caches, should i worry about him finding mature content in caches? Have YOU ever found "adult Rated" content in a cache? Thanks
  2. I think you misunderstand the motives of my telling the OP to consider higher end tech. It's not that I want him/her to spend money they don't really want to, I don't want them discouraged! I also hate to see someone spend money only to turn around and start over a few weeks or months later! Window shopping is fun, but not as fun as getting out and actually doing! If you've never ever lost reception with that Legend, you must be one of the lucky ones who got an exceptional unit for a cheap unit price!! CONGRATS!! Having owned the yellow, the Legend and then moving up in the world, I can tell you, losing signal doesn't seem like a problem...until you know the difference! If you ever upgrade, you'll see what I mean!! Heck, if the cheap models were so good, no one would ever upgrade anyways...right? Hey thanks for the help. But for now im just gonna buy a low tech model that will help me with finding some level 1/1, 2/2 caches. When i start getting good ,and needing more horsepower ill upgrade. Thanks to Everyone.
  3. Those units are what most of us "old timers" started with. They work fine as long as you hold them correctly. Millions of cache finds have been made with the old units, even under tree cover. A lot of people still use them. Besides, with the leaves down now reception won't be an issue and by the time it is, our friend will be hooked. Agreed. . Check out that iFinder Go. For $4.99 it's hard to beat. Like I said that unit has pretty good reception. Probably better than most of the units we've been discussing here. Downside is that you need to enter everything manually, because there is no easy connection with the PC. K, im winning that one now, max bid of 30 bucks.

  5. The mapping units (Vista, old Magellans, Legend, etc.) come with base maps. They are kind of useless. Just main roads and the like. You don't need to buy maps but you can add them later and they do make the GPS far more useful. The GPS V came with detailed maps included, so you should have them if you buy one. The Lowrance above also has a fairly useless base map and no capability to add maps. The other units I mentioned are not mapping units. I'd try to get one of those if you go ebay!! The list Briansnat posted above this is also a good start. I have a Legend I would sell you for $50, it comes with cable, you can upgrade the maps (if memory serves me) and isn't too bad if you don't mind the reception! @Robby Check your email.
  6. Well, im on a custom, (totally pwny) and yes it does have one. Oh, and will there be any maps i have to buy? I hope not..
  7. Well, i dont own the tomtom. and its still 100 bucks.
  8. The Vista has the same problem as the Legend. It doesn't have the greatest reception under trees. If you can deal with that the Vista is a fine unit. I have one and still use it sometimes and $25 is an excellent price for it (it was $350 when it came out). In your price range it will be hard to do better than a Vista for $25. Thanks, Im currently winning it! Will this one require a cord like others have said?
  9. Thanks for the reply, but frankly, since i dont even know if i like the sport yet, i WANT something old and cheap, but something with good reception and something that will get the job done.
  10. Ok let me change my price range. less than 50 bucks. What is the VERY BEST Deal i can get? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=180325621361 What about this vista?^^

  16. PEOPLE TRYING TO KEEP CACHE SECRETS FROM ME! IF IM EVER GOING TO GET GOOD AT THIS I NEED TO LEARN THE STRATEGIES SOEMWHERE!
  17. Lol, is it under the lamp post skirt next to the tree? Thats what im thinking...
  18. "Okay, so we're new to this. Without giving away too much, after doing some reading of other posts, we figured out that things can be hidden in a certain way in certain public places. We were not aware that certain things could be done with certain, umm, public objects. Vague enough? Once we figured that out, we knew right where to look!" This is one of the logs on a cache im try to find, and i really need to know what it means. Its probably really obvious, but could yall please explain it to me? Thanks
