  1. Hi All; We placed a TB Hotel last year and it has been a great stop over for TB's during their travels. Over a 100 visits so far and NO RULES uther than no trade items because of the interior furnature in the Hotel. I do keep a watch on the guests and if one over stays we move it along to another cache that will get it moving again. Did just that today at the request of the bug owner. We have had a lot of fun with the Hotel and that is what this is all about right?. Please check it out. The Thorp 5 star T.B. Hotel along the freeway at Thorp exit. Easy to get to and drop off TB's. To ban T.B. hotels just because of some that don't work seems to be a little extream. See you all out there sometime. You can't get lost if you don't care where you are.
  2. Anybody have ideas about leaving a nice prize in a new cache for the F.T.F. I came up with the idea of a nice walking stick left on the top of the cache since cachers like to hike. Well most of us do anyway. I had the idea while in Arizona this winter. I love to make the sticks nice with carving and F.T.F geocaching carved into the body of the stick. Make a nice handle and then finish and waterproof with Linseed for a nice shinny surface. I hid my first one not long ago at Elephant Rock and it went over very well. F.T.F even posted a photo. Second one went out and also was well liked. Now the third is at Gooseberry Flats cache (not yet approved). So it will be fun to see who finds that one. Anyone else leave a F.T.F. prize and if so what? We had the local Feild and Stream club hide a cache not long ago and they really did a great job. Cache wah full of great items. It would be fun to hear about some of the things that you have found as a F.T.F.sort of prize.
  3. Again we thank all of the answers and will sure pay attention to the advise given. We have found several caches that were in really bad shape. I sure would not concider it out of line to let the owner know that the cache needed some help. We found many this winter in Arizona that were soaked and in bad shape with all the rain last winter. I fixed what I could and made a nice note to the owner when we loged the find. Good question tho (what is snide) I guess something said to hurt and make someone feel bad is the way we think of it. You do the work to set up a nice cache and then get the bad feeling that comes when someone leaves a negative type post. You guys are great. Thanks Ron
  4. Thanks so much you guys. Great help' We did set up the cache so that it would be easy. First part is just right under the bench and several people have found it already. Yes it could be done by someone in a wheel chair. We went down right away and checked to see if the first clue was there. It was and right under the seat part of the log where the last cacher left it. Just so you will understand our feeling better we have even had nasty emails sent to us by this person critizing us for the way we geocache so this is not the first time. I could change the rateings but this was set up for little kids to do and we would not want to discourage any familys. Again thanks for all the great information. Ron
  5. Hi all; Into our second year now and still having a super time. We wanted to get some feedback about people who log caches finds or no finds with snide.nasty remarks. Makes you feel bad that someone can't have fun and enjoy your cache. Anyway is it better to just move on and say nothing. I have a bad feeling that if I answer that it will just get worse so we have been just not paying any attention to this person. Sure love the hobby and have trouble understanding how anyone can go geocaching in a bad mood. Well thanks so much for this forum I feel better already. The best to you. Ron
