  1. Hmmm. I don't do Dutch but it looks exactly like what I'm looking for. Besides, it's mostly numbers and numbers are universal...for the most part. Thanks! John
  2. >>This probably would be best in the GPS Units and Software section. Ooops! I'm sorry. Guess I should have scrolled down further. Sorry! John
  3. Anybody know of a Pocket PC software program that can convert lat/lon coordinates, i.e. [dd mm ss] to [dd mm.mmm] to [dd.dddd] etc? John
  4. Oh LOOK!!!! I'm not a tadpole any more! Thanks, folks!!! JJDubs
  5. Plenty smart, just learning. And smart enough to ask a question when you weren't sure. And you brought doughnuts! Cool! Thank Stunod for the donuts of the dunkin' variety! JJDubs
  6. If the first time to the cache you found it but couldn't reach it, then your first visit should have been a Note, or a DNF. The second visit, where you reached it and signed the log, should be the Found log. Pass the doughnuts, please. Oh, then I guess I'm NOT as smart as I thought I was. JJDubs
  7. After 10 posts in the forums, it will turn to "Geocacher". edit: dang it's hard to type with these wings on... Thanks. Gotta get ready for work now. Funny. I just got this craving for a Boston Cream donut and coffee. JJDubs
  8. One more question, unrelated. What's with this "Tadpole" under my Name/Avatar? JJDubs
  9. Boy, you guys are fast. Thanks for the replies. In fact, I did return to a cache that I had found but couldn't reach. I was able to now reach it so I signed the log. I then just posted a note as you all stated. Guess I'm smarter than I thought!!! JJDubs
  10. I'm relatively new to this. I've only been doing it since mid-March. Is it OK or proper to return to a cache that I've already found and logged, perhaps to grab a Travel Bug? JJDubs
  11. 46410 @ 4 miles = 2 Caches per square mile = .08 As you can see, I'm pretty busy here. If I go 10 miles I get 13 or a density of .26 caches/mile. John JJDubs
  12. I generally download the coordinates and then head off to terraserver.com to get an aerial photo. I zoom the photo to an appropriate resolution to see where to park, find trails if any and get an idea what the terrain is like. I'm waiting for geocache.com to launch their satelites with powerfull x-ray cameras that zoom into the cache so we can see what we are looking for---LIVE! JJDubs Merrillville, IN
  13. The young lady who sold me my Magellan Sportrak Map at Best Buy told me it wouldn't work in my car. I took a chance and bought it anyway. Why would Magellan sell a car lighter power adapter for it if it didn't? I'm happy to say it works fine in my car. I have it mounted on my dash. -- JJDubs
  14. I went shopping for a holder bracket thingy and couldn't find one that I liked. Then I remembered I already had what I needed. I had purchased it YEARS ago for a handheld scanner. (I'm a news photographer.) For whatever reason, I didn't like it. But it works GREAT with my Sportrak Map. It attaches to the window via suction cups and rests on the dash. Quite secure. I'll try to post a photo. JJDubs Oh yeah! And I can move it to the family van, too.
