  1. The fact that he loves geocaching doesn't excuse him from the fact he was in the wrong.
  2. Did anyone besides me receive a very interesting email from Scubasonic? Apparently I touched a nerve. It's pretty easy to have huge numbers in a less than a year time frame if you're finding non-existent caches. LOL
  3. Three states AND a graduation? I'm anxious to hear that exclamation too. I can't believe that a person who could accomplish that feat wouldn't be willing to drive 45 miles to verify a find. Especially one that was so memorable to him.
  4. I can see both sides of the geocoin on this question. I guess it all depends on how bad you want that FTF.
  5. It was only down for about 30 minutes, and is now back up. It is a bit slow, however, which may be what you're referring to. We're investigating the cause now. A bit slow? Perhaps it may help tp research what may happen before it actually does happen.
  6. That's actually what I did. The reason I was interested in this cache was because it was our first. So I logged it on the date that we had originally found it under the previous user name and noted what we were doing and why we were doing it. Thanks again.
  7. Back in September of 2001 we found our first cache in Billings, Montana. For reasons that will take too long to discuss, it was our only find until we decided to get back into geocaching earlier this year. Of course we now have a new user name. I'd like to log that old cache under our new account but not sure what course of action to take, if any. I thought about eliminating the original log and placing a new one but can't recall our old password. Any thoughts?
  8. It's one thing to lose a TB with something of no consequence attached to it, but why do people insist on placing "precious" items in jeopardy? If it's a keepsake, or something that represents a meaningful event in your life then don't allow it to be stolen. Find something else that will suffice and put it out there. Come on people.
  9. If what I'm seeing from your profile you've got nearly three times the density as we do. Perhaps you should take the seed cache to CoyoteRed's stomping grounds.
  10. Just curious about proper procedures here. If the cache is in queue and yet to be published then how can one be FTF? Shouldn't the cache be available to the masses to make it a legit FTF?
  11. Just curious, why don't you want to let folks know that the cache is in water? The same reason you don't tell people where other caches are hidden. If you are around water looking for a cache, typically the water is not the first place you look. (Especially if you have to wade in after it.) If someone tells you where to look it can change the ratings too. I don't quite see the correlation. Upon arriving at GZ the waypoint SHOULD indicate it's underwater. Why keep it a secret?
  12. Just curious, why don't you want to let folks know that the cache is in water?
  13. I recently became a premium member and shortly after set up two "New Cache Listings" notifications. One was for my location and used my email and the second was for my son's location and used his email. We visit there about every other week and he's located in a cache-rich area (Raleigh, NC). The second was activated several days ago and no "new cache listing" notifications have shown as of yet. My question is; can I have two activated at one time? AND can I use two emails?
  14. There's been several situations where I was unable to sign a log. Like everyone else, I forgot a pen, or had one that wouldn't write. Once I forgot tweezers and couldn't remove the log. Another time I could see the cache but had so many muggles around that it was impossible to sign. I logged all of these caches as finds, but here's what I did. Honestly is important to me, so in several situations I took a photo with my phone and emailed it and my explanation to the owner, thus proving that I was indeed there. On the ocassions where I couldn't sign OR snap a quick photo I sent a description of the find. After doing this, never have I had an owner reject my find AND I feel legit in claiming it. IMHO, if you can't sign the log then prove to the owner you were there. If you can't do that you're cheating the game and yourself.
  15. Personally I don't see much difference between them and a 35mm film canister with a soggy log, or the ever popular camo'ed bison tube hid in an evergreen shrub big enough to hide an M1 tank. Though there were times when I was impressed by the size and numbers of the spiders such a spot could hold.
  16. This one has nearly 598,000 miles. http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.as...5a-895157dc3f5f
  17. You'd be amazed at how well the pattern blends with our bikini-clad cachers. LOL
  18. I nominate my grandson. He only has 107 caches, but understands the true value of each and every one of them. It's NOT about the numbers to him!
  19. Claiming a FTF for a cache no one else has access to can be but one thing. You can put bread and butter on it, but it's still what it is. If you get some sense of pleasure from it than you really don't understand the game and I feel sorry for you.
  20. Some very interesting paint schemes here and looking forward to trying a few.
  21. When we first activated our new Dare a week ago it purred like a kitten, then several day ago it went belly-up. I could access the site but once a zip code was entered we received a 500 - Internal Server Error message. I was very frustrated. Now this morning it seems to be up and running again, though I haven't checked completely. Not sure what or who fixed it, but THANK YOU!
