  1. Oxfordshire is neither West Midlands nor South of England ... whats so bad about using county names .... I object to having to make a choice between two areas that arent where I am, each time I submit or even edit a previously published cache....

    Is it just me?

  2. Blacks in Stratford have 3 left .. but I cant get there ...

The Manager from Milletts Bicester and the chap in the Millets Banbury store both told me that dont think they will get any even though they are on the website and they are effectively the same company as Blacks ... in their words ... " We never get anything and we dont sell Garmin".... I left my details with them nonetheless

    Any other reports?

  3. Just upgraded to a Nokia 6650 flip and am starting to explore the GPS therein .. so far seems impressive with the Assisted GPS its slick too ... not sure that it will take over from my trusty Cx but getting all the page info and cache logs on the fly is a definite advantage to me. New caches actually appear on it seemlessly so it could have an advantage for FTF-hounds on the move [:anibad:]

  4. Rutson - have posted there already ... do keep up ...

Dibbler69 ... i am not a newbie ... try the search as i specified it .. my local searches work without fail .. it appears to be a problem with GU post codes only ...

Team LRS ... read my reply to Dibbler69 - but i take your point ... maybe its from our local area only .... we shall see

  5. When some local cachers phoned me and asked if I could search for a post code GU46 6BT which is a post code for Yateley near Farnborough, United Kingdom...

When I tried this all I got was a list of german caches ... the same as they had ... is this a local problem or a gliche for the PTB ?

    Happy Caching

  6. I think it IS about the numbers in one sense.... I have a good number of hides to my 3000+ caches because I want to have them and want others to enjoy them too ...

However, I think some of the top 20 cachers, think differently and are only concerned with numbers found ... no interest in setting new caches or "giving back" to the community that supports our habit.

Good thread maxkim - one of my pets whinges for a long time but I rarely use this forum so havent posted on it before.

  7. According to DEFRA there is no risk to other birds unless they come into contact with infected birds, but I do respect your concerns, I would probably have similar concerns if there was an outbreak of canine flue.

Lets just hope that this is all sorted quickly for all concerned and particuarly the farmers. The farm in question only transferred production from dairy to eggs last year. They did this due to dwindling profits for dairy farmers, so this is just what they needed :o .

Latest from Defra yesterday can be seen here

The exclusion as John says is away from the camp site still but there are closures of some local footpaths but which ones it doesnt say. Just that restriction notices must be obeyed. - I cant see cachers ignoring them - can you?

Less than a fortnight bump ;)

  8. Over the last 3 months my shiny Garmin Venture Cx has been feeling poorly and refusing to stay on longer than it wanted to. Most days I could persuade it after three or four attempts to let me navigate for an hour or two- but that was it....

Eventually, after borrowing a Legend from a friend (thanks Mongoose), I plucked up the courage and corresponded with the Techies at Garmin ...

    :grin::lol::(:(:(:(:D:lol:

My past experiences of doing this had been grim and those that know me and have chatted about it, will know that they dont like me there ... however, things were about to change .... for the better.

After an initial problem over the warranty .... (thanks to GlobalPositioningsystems - Illinios) - all was ready and the guys at Garmin sent me a returns number and the promise that the unit would be away for 7 to 10 working days ....

The unit was dispatched from my local post office last Wednesday with Special Delivery, so I knew it would be there the next day for sure ... and allowing for problems all would be well and returned to me by the 5th or 6th of December ....

A BRAND SPANKING NEW UNIT ARRIVED THIS AFTERNOON .... Just 3 days turn around and no charge at all... great performance!!!!

Thanks Garmin - you have restored my faith in human nature and given me a smashing early Xmas present

  9. Marston 2007 has gone and almost forgotten but next summer we are planning a move to Moreton-in-Marsh and a camping and van site at the Cross Hands Inn ... early stages of planning but looks good for our normal weekend around the 9 10 and 11 of August. Not too many caches that way yet but there will be [-_-]
