  1. I am moving forward with confidence but still rely on printing out the cache descriptive page and taking it/them with me on the find. Is this common, or is there another way beside getting a PDA? Tks,
  2. A related question to logging TBs at the cache - should one log the bug's ID # that is taken or dropped off. I know not to log the ID at geocaching.com.
  3. There also is a good M Color Travel pack at Amazon.com for $400
  4. Perhaps what *we* can then do is help protect these sites by NOT posting the coordinates. After all, this is a recreation, a passion, an addictive hobby, and not anything else. Lets ALL do our conservation part, to include protecting the cache site surroundings! Z_Statman
  5. I am new to geocaching and have the Meridian Color that came with DR. While I do like it, my biggest concern is that the maps are outdated here in Central Florida, so perhaps in other areas as well. In talking to tech, they said that it want be until Oct 2004 before an update is released. On numerous occasions I have been routed a much longer way to a site than I know exists, even taking 'major' roads.
  6. Jackson is right, GSAK is far better.
  7. This is a great tool, continue the good work. A thought, since you are using GPSBabel.exe then why don't you also display its version in the About splash.
  8. I am just getting started and feel really good in that many of my set-ups and GPSr usage follows what I read above ["pat on my back."] Thanks to all for your insights, and happy caching to all.
  9. Thanks, Keystone, that is exactly the type of info I was looking for.
  10. OK, lets try this. Please link to the following in zip 32712 called op_Tom http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=716567c1-f1a4-45af-8e51-2f121f8fa429 There will be 79 WPs downloaded. There as some North of Op-Tom and some South. I am coming from the N. Clearly I don't need the S WPs if you load them into a mapper like MapSend Direct Route. But, just listing the WPs in GSAK of Easy/ExpertGPS I would not know this. Is this getting clearer? Patience, and I do appreciate your help.
  11. Thanks, yes, somewhat. I did a cache the other day and downloaded all WPs from GC.com for the cache. When it plotted the route [Mel Color] I ended up "on the wrong side of the river" since a couple of the WPs were on the South side of the river and some on the North side. If I have just used those on the N side [hine site is 20/20] all would have been [hopefully] OK. Is this clear?
  12. Some sites set of WPs number well over 20 and, though interesting, some are well below the cache sites [say South of the site and I am coming from the North]. So, I really don't need to load all to my GPSr. How do I decide which ones are 'needed?' Tks, Z_Statman
  13. yes, but if one wants to map it, like with directroute then have to convert it to its format. have tried gpsbabel but geek getting a file error when read by mapsend. z_statman
  14. And what does one think of the Meridan Color? S
  15. If a go, please let me know. I would like to attend. S
