  1. Hey, JeepCachr, thanks very much!! +dhdgps+
  2. +dhdgps+ = my initials (the dhd part ), and gps, well, is gps. Okay, here's one i've seen recently (in CO). TFTH. I saw above that TFTC = Thanks For The Cache. Is this Thanks For The ??? TFTD Thanks For The Definition!! Lots of snow in the Front Range area of CO today, believe it or not, so probably not much caching going on for my family and me.
  3. Thanks gentlemen!! The pictures on Dusty's web site don't have anything that matches the one that I saw. I'll take a picture of it, and upload it. I'm just afraid to see what it really turns out to be (sprinkler control valve???). Thanks!! +dhdgps+
  4. Folks, I was looking for LL1134 in Boulder, CO, and the description says something about a stainless steel rod. I just finished entering a not-found log, and only then did I notice the description of this benchmark as a metal rod for the "marker type", and the "setting" being a stainless steel rod. Then in the description it says: "NOTE--ACCESS TO THE DATUM POINT IS HAD THROUGH A 5-INCH LOGO CAP." I realized that I had seen a rod sticking up out of the ground near some well-manicured grass and rocks (in front of this business), and the rod had this thing that looked like a disk with buttons protruding from the underside of the disk. The disk had a hole in it, and the rod was through the hole. Could that be the marker? If so, I'll go back there and snap a picture of it, and mark it as found. Thanks for any and all advice!! +dhdgps+
  5. Greetings Cee_OH-Cachers!! Sorry to read about billzjeep. I'm really new to this (about 1 week total), and saw a lot of caches that he had hidden. Perhaps my first cache that I hide will be in honor of him. I am very glad to have happened upon this string. I love the idea of snowshoe caches, being an avowed snowshoeing addict. My first find was Molly Coin Cache up around N40 32.050 W105 05.590 way, that being the product of my second search. I have to say that my first search was rather comical. I have this new Garmin GPSmap 60C (first GPS unit ever!!), and REI sold that and MetroGuide software. I noticed something odd when I was looking for GHOST 11 - MAGNOLIA BY AHELIR (N39 59.167 W105 23.041). I put in the waypoint, and used the "go to" feature. The map didn't start where I was, first off, and then it suggested that I remove about 6 rows of houses near Chatauqua Park in Boulder on my way to drive straight up the Flatirons!! Hmmmm... After going to the place by "manual means" (i.e., no GPS guidance until I was much closer to this cache), I then realized that looking for a cache at about 7461 feet on a north-facing location was, well, DUMB!!!! Obviously, this one didn't turn out to be my first find. Luckily, I had my 11-year-old daughter along to make sure that I didn't miss out on any opportunity to feel humble. Well, since then (and before my second search, which was successful) I got the proper MapSource City Select software for this unit, a unit which is really FABULOUS!! So, I promise not to post such verbose postings, but just wanted to say "hi", and I look forward to reading posts about Cee-Oh Caching. +dhdgps+
  6. Wow!! I hardly had time to upload an Avatar and there were 5 responses!! Thanks all!! TTFN (okay, so I have kids who like Tigger...)
  7. Hi!! I'm totally new to this cool pastime, and I am wondering what log entries, both at the FIRST cache that I found (woohoo!!), and on the web site. E.g., could someone please enlighten me as to the meaning of "TNLNSL", and any other similar abbreviations? is there a place to go to find the meaning of such pithy maxims? Thanks!! DHDGPS
  8. Thanks all!! I"ll check out the other software, and will hope that EasyGPS is USB-compatible soon. Thanks!! dhd
  9. Folks, I have a Garmin GPSmap 60C which uses a USB interface to the PC. When using EasyGPS, I cannot for the life of me get the software to recognize my GPS unit. I am able to emulate a serial port using a USB interface with other hardware, and the GPS unit talks with the PC just fine using MapSource downloading. But EasyGPS doesn't work - or at least i haven't figured out how to do this (I therefore have no idea how to create GeoCache entries on my GPS unit). Any help with this USB interface with EasyGPS would be muchly appreciated. Thanks!! Warmest regards, dhd
