  1. Ok, I just had to share my latest caching experience. Here is the story that took place 30 mins ago: My wife and son and I are headed to our house on Lake Martin from our home in Mobile, AL. With my wife driving, I was watching my GPS for potential caches. I realized that I had not put any new ones in that were close to our route, so I had to fix that. So....I pulled out my mac, connected it to my blackberry using bluetooth, then hopped on the internet and logged into geocaching.com and searched for some caches along the way. I found a few promising ones, so I pulled out my USB cable, connected my mac to my Oregon and sent the caches to the Oregon. 5 miles later, we exited I-65, quickly found the skirtlifter (my first) signed the log and headed back on our way. So, I hooked my mac and BB and GPS all back up together, logged in and posted the log to my account and now I am typing this on the forum. hehehe. What a great way to make a routine 3hour drive a little more exciting. I just had to share it knowing that there are some other techno folks that would appreciate this. Here is the link to the cache: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...1c-5188cb0bfd58
  2. I found a cache recently in a fence post cap that was done with velcro. I do not know what they used to attach the velcro to the cap, but the other part of the velcro was attached to the bottom of the film canister, which allowed quick removal and return.
  3. Thanks g-o! That did the trick. For some reason, I had in my mind that I had already updated it.
  4. Hey there all! My name is Mark and I am new geocasher from Mobile, AL. I got an Oregon 400t for Christmas to use during hunting season and decided geocashing would be a great hobby to do with my 3yo son since he can't go turkey hunting with me yet. We have been "treasure hunting" a couple of times and had a great time! My wife went with us yesterday and we plan to have a picnic and hit some spots today. I am an executive in the defense industry. My company does software development and subject matter expert support for the DoD. I have been an outdoorsman for my whole life and particularly enjoy gadgets and topo maps, so Geocashing is a great fit! Thanks for all the fun and I look forwarded to interacting.
  5. Not the Wherigo menu ... the Where To? menu. That's where you'll see "Coordinates" as one of the options. JetSkier Unfortunately, I meant the Where To? menu. On my 400t, the options under Where To? are :Recent Finds, Waypoints, Tracks , Routes, All POI, Cities, Tides, Geographic Points. No coordinates....oh well.
  6. I have an Oregon 400t and the only way that I can figure to go to coordinates is to first create a waypoint from my current location and to then edit the waypoint coordinates and then choose goto that waypoint that I just created. I saw in the Oregon wiki that there was a go to coordinates menu item under the Wherigo menu, but mine doesn't have that option. Do I need to turn it on somewhere?? Thanks in advance for the help!
  7. I have a Garmin 400t that I am using for 2 main applications: Geocaching and marking remote hunting spots. As a result, I have tons of waypoints from many years of turkey hunting. I installed an old microSd card that I have used in cameras. I have 2 issues: 1. it doesn't seem like the garmin is using the microSD for storage. Will that happen automatically when I use up the native memory? 2. When I connect the garmin to my mac, the microSD card shows up as a separate drive from my garmin and still has some of the folders that my camera created. Do I need to reformat the microSD card for use with the GPS so that it appears like extended memory or is it supposed to appear separately? Thanks in advance for the help!
  8. What software do you use? I am tying to use GPSBabel+ to do it and get an error trying to connect to my Oregon 400t.
