  1. That's a weird looking cop, looks more likely to be riding a horse than being an officer
  2. Not all that far from South Carolina, and notice the date. Lol, but this is in North Carolina about 30 miles north of Asheville. It does make you wonder whether the two objects are related. But I'm pretty sure the log goes back farther than that date if I remember correctly.
  3. That the thing though, there were no latches, nails or any signs of a forced opening. It was a cheaply made wooden box painted red.. Sorry to pop the bubbles lol.
  4. The log that I signed was definitely used, I believe I was on the last page.
  5. But that's the weird thing, it had the sheet in there saying you've found a geocache and telling you about the hobby. Had various things to take there too like a normal cache. The log to sign was rolled up in a medicine bottle. I'll try to post a pic of it here.
  6. Yes but that's a virtual cache, right? This was an actual physical box.
  7. Yeah I ran into , I didn't have a GPS with me at the time. It was just last week, and it was in medium sized red wooden box.
  8. I don't What is the Zip code of mt. mitchel and do you remember any of the cachers befor you logged it It's the tallest peak east of the Mississippi.. On the Blue Ridge Parkway. I can't remember any names either, it was such a rush being up there and finding it. Only two caches are listed there, but they are both virtual. :/
  9. Hey, I was visiting Mt. Mitchell in NC while on vacation, and just happened to find a cache without a GPS. So I don't know its name or coordinates. It was on the summit of the mountain. Signed it "BassMasterCHS" and I can't remember the exact date. Can someone help me find it online so I can log the visit? Thanks!
  10. Searching for a local club is probably your best bet like they said. Too bad it's not any closer, I wouldn't mind helping out!
  11. I just bought mine for 200 at wal-mart too, it's been great so far. They have resolved a lot of the issues with firmware updates. TritonForums.com is a great site for any type of help.
  12. That's right, hit 'em where it hurts. I bet someone on the local CoC knows Funk's parole officer, too... I applaud you for doing this,I'd like to see any results from this. Fortunately, every GeoCacher I've met here in Tampa is pretty darn cool.
  13. I have one at the end of the driveway, and it's been replaced three times over 5 years. Each and every one has caught fire and made loud electrical buzzing noises...then the power for the entire street goes out until TECO comes along with a new unit.
  14. This thread is of Epic proportions and longevity.
  15. Sure did....Where did you get your icon?.. Update: Got it! I DIDN'T convert the file to PNG. I just assumed it was, as it said on the website it was PNG. Converted, syncing now. Thanks for the help and sorry for the trouble!
  16. Was the file a png when you got it from the internet? If not, you you need to convert them. You can't just change the extention; I free program for this is irfanview... http://www.irfanview.com/ Most images on the net are gifs or jpegs; so so need to convert it or find one that is already a png file Yes, it was a PNG file. When I right click and go to properties, it says it's a irfanview png file. Perhaps I need to choose another icon?...
  17. Thanks Skelly! Now I have the two "Found Cache.png" icons in the correct folders, but it's not showing up when I edit the geocache in VP...
  18. How does one get to the root of VP? I have Windows XP...
  19. Is there any way to mark a cache as being found in the field? On those long days of hunting, it's hard to remember what you've found....
  20. more like 240 miles Correction, I retract the above statement...I was looking this subject up and it turns out I found some around the 22k mile mark...and some around 240..Odd?
  21. Thanks for the tips This GeoCaching is a cool new hobby, I'm completely addicted now lol.
  22. Lol, sorry about that, still new to this stuff. The coin turned out great still lol.How do I go about buying this particular coin?...
