  1. Sorry for the hijack but I don't see any way of knowing how many waypoints I have loaded in my 76C. My older Garmins have/had a number at the bottom of the waypoint page showing amount of waypoints used. Up until know I have to upload to Mapsource, clear GPS memory and load back what I want.
  2. Of course nobody told me a week and a half ago that the new unit I was buying would be discounted ina few days. I'm a bit peeved and let Garmin and my vendor know about it. This happened before when I bought a 176C but then I was withing guidelines for the dates but it was a new unit bought at auction. So this time I go with an authorized vendor and still get reamed.
  3. I've used a RAM mount for my 12map and 176C on my dual sport. The only ill effects were that my 12map started to suffer from battery shut down before I hard wired into the electrical system. Some people prefer the Touratech mounts. Touratech You won't hurt the GPS,,,,believe me I've tried.
  4. I stumbled onto an old post and thought I would reply: I use 128 memory for my 176C and there is one aftermarket source for these cards. Gilsson Cards With the recent price drops of Garmin memory though, they went from a good deal to a bad deal.
  5. I don't do the GC thing but really like Expertgps. The mapping and aerial photo feature are worth the price alone. It's always nice finding some out of the way place by scanning maps. The aerial feature helps me find/confirm old railroad grades. As others suggested,,,,broadband highly recommended.
  6. I bought it about a year ago and like it. I still use Mapsource for run of the mill stuff but when I need an accurate location off of a real topo map I use Expertgps. That feature alone is probably what sold me on it. I do recommend a broadband connection for the topo map feature. Dan, I assume it handles the new file format of Mapsource beta 6? I haven't tried to import any of the new files in it since I was spending most of my time trying to see what they added to it.
  7. Magg. unit back in the mid 90 right before everyone started making 12 channel units. I took it back after two weeks as it just sucked. withing a year bought a Garmin12.
