  1. I also use a Triton 400. I heard that Magellan DOES have a non-existant costomer service department, but I have not yet had to use it. So far I have not had too many problems with my Triton, and have been able to figure it out without haveing to look at the owners manual. The display is small which is somewhat annoying when viewing the map screen, but I use the compas screen most of the time while caching. The buttons on this thing are VERY tiny, and sometimes difficult to push. THe goecaching feature (which is also on other GPSr's, but wasn't on my old one) is great because I can read the notes and hints in the field. All in all, I like my Triton, and it is working well for me and my family.
  2. Ok, so we are new to this, and I have a question. What is the general consensus about trading swag? I mean I have 3 kids that go with us, 2 of which are 4 and 11 and of course they both always want something from the cache. Is it OK to trade 2 items per visit (we make sure each kid trades an item thats even or better) or are we plundering the caches and being greedy? We don't want to offend anyone, so we are hoping to get your opinions regarding this.
  3. I just wear whatever I had on when I decided to go out. But I usually bring my "Caching Bag" which includes an extra waterproof jacket, beanie, flashlights, firstaid kit, lighters, bioculars and a camelback. Cuz you just never know how long you will be gone. Oh yeah and I also stuff my Swag bag in there too.
  4. Well I've read about the variations in the D/T ratings. I'm new to geocaching, and the only place I saw that discussed it before this was in the Getting Started section, and it only says 1 is easiest and 5 is hardest. Is there somewhere a newbie can look to be more accurate in judging the D/T before a cache is hidden?
  5. I have the same hesitation. Yesterday we looked for a cache that was posted on the fence of someones yard. I felt too awkward approaching their property and start snooping around. The residents and neighbors looked at me while I was looking and the whole time I was waiting for the cops to show up. Is it safe to assume that if a cache is posted that close to someone's property, everyone there knows what I'm up to?
  6. Not wanting to hijack the post, in the same lines, can the Garmin GPSMAP 60Cx allow for bluechart or other marine maps?
  7. We put together a swag bag. When my kid finds something new, he has to give up something old, that way we recycle the small stuff he finds.
