  1. A nice succinct post that had all the confirmed cities/states listed would be great too! Me, I'm too lazy to figure it out!
  2. Mother Hen may be there (depends on whether we score tix to Pirates of the Caribbean 3 at the movie theatre across the street from where we're staying) OT: It was a pleasure to meet you the other day, Allie! Thanks again for the wonderful coins!
  3. Thanks, Carl! Had no problems logging in. It may have been down for less than 24, but I guess it felt like it had been that long! I do sometimes have problems getting to the site with the url www.sepag.us so I have bookmarked the postnuke/index.php page.
  4. I haven't been able to log into SEPAG for 24 hrs. Is it down or am I just too tired and am typing in the wrong addy?
  5. We are egg-cited to have our own tale to tell as well. Mother Hen decided to take the chicklets to DE for some tax-free shopping and grab a few caches to boot. We went to one cache (a micro in a park & ride lot) and saw a dude next to a black truck with the cache - but he looked a little "off" (oldest chicklet's phrase) so we waited until he left to grab the cache. We noticed that he hadn't signed the log book. We figured "muggle" and didn't give it another thought. Moved on to the cache and happened to see a similar truck in the parking lot. We figured we were being paranoid. So we go for the cache and guess who is at gz again?!?! Well, we decided to circle around and come back for the cache 10 mins. later. When we returned he was gone. As the chicklets were digging through the ammo box, a light green plastic egg caught my eye. Could it be?!?! YES! Needless to say, we give a huge Thanks to the generous bunny. Was it the "off" dude that was at the cache before us? No clue. Regardless, thanks again! Another
  6. It's weird - we have lots of photos of our chicklets - but no really nice ones with them holding or exploring the contents of a cache. Here's a few of my faves: Blaze orange never goes out of style Winter wonderland Spring (taken last weekend)
  7. We found a safe that had been forced open & emptied at one cache At another, we found a series of plants in pots that looked suspiciously like marijuana. A few days later, another cacher noted that police were watching the area and were very interested in folks going in and out of the corner of the park.
  8. I guess this is where I don't understand the FTF mindset. How are you being "penalized" for not being able to claim the FTF? You still get to log the cache (when you have a pen), get a smilie and watch your number found stat bar rise for it. That's a visible reward - a smilie on the cache page and another stat bar number under your belt. Since gc doesn't track FTF stats, there's really no reward inherent in finding it first from a numbers standpoint. If you are all out for FTF prizes, then I guess that would be a horse of another color. It would also be something I'd understand better, as I understand wanting to get a physical prize. Until gc comes out with some special icon for the cache page for the first finder, generates FTF stats and specifically defines the circumstances and rules to claim a FTF, I think I will respectfully stay out of that aspect of the game. I was, however, highly impressed with Grunriese's thoughtful post on the subject. I would hope, however, that #10 would never have to come into play. I wouldn't want to have to arbiter something like that - especially if I weren't witness to see exactly who found it first. I agree with Harry Dolphin in that if I am caching with someone else and they find it first, or sign the log or leave some other memento there first, they are FTF and it is not a shared thing. I was out with a friend recently and she found 2 first and she rightfully claimed FTF. I didn't even think of claiming it as a shared thing (nor would I want to). Ghosts in the machine who find caches but don't sign the log don't count - it's very hard to prove your first if your name aint on the first page in the book. (Anyone can take a picture of a blank page in a log book - doesn't mean it's the first page in that log book so I don't buy that as proof positive.)
  9. Fantastic, Floop! Amazing how many caches you can find on your way to work! :-) See ya at the next event! Mother Hen

Hmmmm - that is outright weird. I went to the forums, created a forum account, was never asked for any kind of security question, started blabbing away in the forum, received a PM, & responded to it with no problem whatsoever. I didn't join on the homepage but it looks like it only asks for your gc account name and your email address. ETA: Maybe if I had tried to join on the home page I would have encountered the same problem? Guess I just bypassed the formality, due to my forum lurking illness!
  11. Step #20a - You not only look forward to attending those 100mi+ away events solo (because the rest of the family doesn't want to drive in a car that long), but events are the closest thing you've done to "real" caching (you get to log a smilie at least) in months because you spend more time in local, regional, national forums then out in the field (step 14)! Not that I am bitter! *sigh* ~ Mother Hen
  12. That would be a really sweet feature. As the event organizer it can also be a pain to have all those logs flooding your email address (and you cant take it off your watch list!) Here, event organizers generally ask cachers to delete their logs once they have dropped bugs just to keep the cache page clean. Having a feature to drop bugs without a log into an event would keep cache pages neater as well.
  13. I think it's a great idea too. I'd definitely want one for the cachemobile!
  14. Compared to some of you, our measly 350 mile drive looks like a walk in the park! The entire chicken clan plans to arrive on Friday and head home Sunday. Look forward to meeting everyone! Mother Hen of Evil Chicken
  15. Congrats, guys! Way to go! (Sorry I didn't get the chance to congratulate you in person tonight at Third Tuesdays.) Mother Hen of Evil Chicken
  16. The Evil Chicken clan booked campsite #13
  17. The Chicken Clan is planning to drive down early Friday AM. We were also fortunate to get a cheap hotel (where kids eat free) so we are happy about that. Some plans in the works for Fri nite and Sunday we'll check out and not sure where we are going after that. We may tagalong with friends and spend a few more days down South. We may also just drive back up Sunday. Depends on the temperament (exhaustion) of the kids.
  18. If you are down around Wharton SF, you could try running a pocket query using this cache: Legend of the White Stag (GCH7YK) as the center point.
  19. We'd happily take NJ if the original cacher can't do it. We have a set of coords ready to go and a cache container in place for a new cache we were going to put out ourselves.
  20. Looks great - excited to see our names on the coin. One request, can "Evil chicken" be changed to "Evil Chicken" with a capital "C"? Thanks for all of your hard work on the coin. ~ Mother Hen
  21. There are 61 folks watching the cache - maybe posting a note on the cache page stating that you are trying to get a team together would elicit some response? Best of luck with this challenge! It was the most physically brutal and mentally demanding cache we've personally ever done (We won't talk about the mental scars it left! )
  22. Some winter pics This is very close to Where the HE Double Hockey Sticks is Dam it?? Bog Iron Earthcache
  23. Would that be the Central/Central portion of Hunterdon County or the Central/West side?!? Thanks for the bump, Nik -- it's always a good public service to remind folks to be wary of the "local with many missing front teeth, a pig in the pickup, stained trucker cap, and bad breath," and to remind folks to "be real courteous and don't turn your back on him." In fact some of our local piney favorites recently graced the pages of Weird NJ - chased the Marks right off the property. (Yep, you guessed it, there is a geocache not far from where said pineys live.) (With respect to the old posts) For the record, South Jersey graciously acknowledges that it doesn't have the corner market on weirdness - also, we have never seen BrianSnat's crusty, dirty laundry and we are thankful for that! ~ Mother Hen
