  1. Have a look here http://www.geocaching.com/faq/ http://www.geocaching.com/articles/finding.asp Quick checklist 1. Setup your GPS to Position Format - hddd*mm.mmm (Longitude and Latitude) 2. Set GPS datum to - WGS 84 3. Or if you want to use a map then change the Position Format to - British Grid so that you get Easting’s & Northing’s 4. If you change your batteries on the GPS then recalibrate the compass 5. Stick with a few Traditional Caches first 6. Stick to with less stars to start with Difficulty: Terrain: 7. When you get to within <10m then just take a general look around and think there would you hide it? 8. Look for mossy trees that bits of wood next to them that look out of place 9. Upload lots of waypoints for your area and keep them in your GPS. That way you can do a search by nearest and maybe do a cache while you are out and about or switch to another. 10. Take a friend. Take a mix of cache swaps (good, bad, big “not to big”, small, funny, useful etc. Regards - FamilyWood
