  1. Wow, I think this is the most effort put forth for a set of coins I have ever seen! Dealing with major production issues, snowstorms and a broken arm?! Thanks for everything you've done so far.
  2. I was pleasantly surprised this summer with car trouble. My car died in a turning lane (bad alternator = drained battery), so I called the cops (traffic hazard) who in turn called for a tow. It took about 15 minutes for the police to come, but in that time, about 5 cars stopped (a couple coming from the opposite direction) and asked if I needed help! And I live in supposedly unfriendly New England!
  3. Ok, my experience with owning a 60cx for about a week. I just switched from an Explorist 400. I use City Navigator for driving around, and the Topo software for hiking. Topo software may be "outdated" -2002 edition, I believe-, but I only use the Topo to assist in navigating around natural features; i.e. elevation/contours, watercourses, etc. Natural features just do not change all that quickly. Plus, Garmin still supports the software with updates on their website. The 60csx and 60cx both have the ability to auto-reroute if you go offcourse. I don't like electronic compasses and I'm not using my GPS for flying, so the 60csx features just didn't appeal to me.
  4. I'll have 2 of each metal, thanks!
  5. Well, I've been fortunate that my 2 caches went through without a problem (BTW, no one else can see any info on your cache until it is published except you and the reviewer), but yes, it can take some time, but first I would just drop a friendly email to your reviewer and see what's up. Around here, it takes roughly 1-3 days to be published, perhaps longer for complicated caches. If he/she is on vacation, it may not get published for 10 days! Asking is a good first step. Since you put a note saying it has new coords, etc., the reviewer should see that. Good luck!
  6. I've seen owners log FTF or Find on their own caches, just to boost numbers. Whatever. Like said in an older thread, "posting a find on your own cache is like congratulating yourself for remembering where you parked your car at the mall," or something like that.
  7. I had bought one of those shieldzone/Invisible shield protectors for my Canon dig cam that I got off of eBay. The camera worked, but had a pretty bad scratch on the LCD. When I put the invisibleshield on it, it actually made the scratch disappear! Very pleased, and bought more for my GPS and PDA.
  8. In my neck of the woods, we currently have this TB: Big Red Bitch I believe it usually ends up residing near the cache, rather than inside it.
  9. LOL! That's a good one. No official name for mine, unless you count "What's wrong with you, you POS?!" as a name.
  10. eBay or Army/Navy stores. Or you can be lucky like me and have a ex-Army buddy who has a garage full!
  11. 1) Sticking my hands into crevices that look like potential hidey holes for snakes or bobcats (a lot of that happened this past Sunday morning) 2) Breaking ankle/leg while deep in the woods (almost happened on Sunday; trying to find the final of a multicache in a rockfield, and I stepped on leaves that were covering a sinkhole. Leg went in up to my knee) 3) Hiking out to a cache for more than 3 hours (out and back) and not finding it (also Sunday)
  12. Ok, here are the main outdoor activities I participate in, currently: Geocaching/hiking Scuba diving Golf Of the 3, geocaching is far and away the least expensive (I own all my own equipment for everything), but I enjoy all 3 about the same. Each has their pluses, and each has their minuses (Diving can be tougher to organize and takes a fair amount of prep work for a relatively short amount of time underwater; whereas geocaching and golf give me a both a sense of accomplishment and frustration). But whatever; I'd rather have a bad day outside doing any of those rather than a good day inside at work. That's what counts, right?
  13. Have you checked out this thread yet?: TB Longevity Personally, I lean towards zip ties or wire wrap.
